Review content:
Today we tried the Lupe Tortilla Mexican restaurant on Highway 59. I had been to the location near Highway 6 many years ago, but we decided to stop here as we came back from the Museum.
The restaurant looks fairly new and was popular with the business lunch crowd. We were seated quickly on an outdoor patio right next to a large sand play area for the kids. This was a wonderful place for them to play, with at least 4 or 5 Little Tikes play structures and lots of sand toys. It was so relaxing for my husband and I to linger over chips and salsa while they played!
The service was a little slow and I would rate it as average. But the food more than made up for this. The chips were fresh and tasty. They bring out a bowl of charro beans for dipping with your chips and it was absolutely delicious. The chips and beans could have been my lunch by themselves. We ordered some flour tortillas for the kids to munch on, and they were huge, light, and very good!
I ordered the green chicken enchiladas, and they were probably the best I have ever had. My husband ordered a chicken dish, and he commented that the refried beans were exceptional.
We definitely plan to return to Lupe Tortilla's, but we will probably go to the West Houston location since it is closer to home.
