Businiess name:  Tony's

Everyone who we spoke to said that this would be the best dining experience we would ever have in St. Louis. That the food was excellent, the service superb and the atmosphere elegant. Also that we would drop a few hundred dollars (for 4 people), but that "it will be completely worth it!" Hardly. The food was ok (though my stomach hasn't been right since, which could be a coincidence), but when put together with the stuff atmosphere and the mediocre service - not worth it at all. Our waiter was disheveled to say the least, spoke out of the side of his mouth, was never around when we needed him (though his support staff was very thorough) and I kept seeing him hike his pants up in the corner. The atmosphere didn't bother me as much as it bothered the rest of the folks in my party. I think part of it may have been what you should expect in such a place - overdressed people looking like they are sure they are important and a lot of hushed tones. But I think it was exacerbated by the fact that everything else didn't live up to that setting. This could have just been a bad night for Tony's (Monday night after Christmas - though every table was occupied), but I have to say I won't be back of my own accord.
