We don't have children, we have dogs and cats. As a journalist and former research and development chemist with a pharmaceutical company, I had never met a vet I trusted until I met Drs. Weber and Johnson at Newberg Veterinary Hospital. A genuine hospital, the clinic really is open seven days a week and its on-call doctors really do return phone calls within 10 minutes.
Newberg Veterinary Hospital's doctors are skilled -- Dr. Fischer tapped our beloved golden retriever's heart when a tumor on his heart burst, flooding the pericardium with blood. Doctors are up-to-date and inventive -- Dr. Johnson's knowledge extends far beyond Eastern Medicine, although her skillful use of acupuncture eased our golden's arthritic pain, and her suggestion of an Eastern Medicine herbal capsule ""Yunnan BaoYao"" is what I credit for nearly four months of invaluable time to say our goodbyes when our golden retriever contracted hemangiosarcoma, a cancer that causes abnormal blood vessels and tumors. The VietCong used Yunnan BaoYao to stem internal bleeding during the Vietnam War.
Newberg Veterinary Clinic's doctors are compassionate -- the newest doctor on staff came to our home when it was time to say good bye to our golden. All doctors at Newberg Veterinary Hospital are understanding and empathetic. They are sensitive to the fact that our pets are valued members of our family. The doctors never fail to take time out of their busy days to thoroughly address our questions -- and fully consider all possible avenues of treatment.
As a past resident of Michigan and Montana, and a current resident of Florida, the cost of Newberg Veterinary Hospital's extraordinary care is extremely reasonable. We cannot thank the doctors, veterinary technicians, and grooming and office staff enough. We were lucky to live no farther than a couple of hours from Newberg Veterinary Hospital for nearly seven years, but we would have happily traveled farther if we had needed to do so. While we sat in the clinic's comfortable waiting area, we often spoke with folks from the Portland and Salem metropolitan areas who were regular travelers to Newberg because they wanted top-notch care for their pets.
Probably the only fault we could possibly find with Newberg Veterinary Hospital is that its staff has set the bar too high. I doubt we will ever find another clinic that can compare to the high standard set by Newberg Veterinary Hospital.
