I was scheduled to come in for a tasting on Saturday, April 16th, and made the person that I made the appointment with aware that I would be coming from Philadelphia. On the day that we came down, there was a horrendous storm. As a result of the bad weather, there were at least four accidents on the way down. A trip that normally takes us about an hour and half, took us four hours. We called in to the bakery to let them know that we were running late, at which they said that it would be okay and for us to still come down. After finding out that that it would take even longer due to all of the accidents, we tried calling the bakery back to ask them if we should keep driving or just turn around, because we were obviously going to be later than expected. We called, and called, and called, at least 10 times leaving two messages. Two hours later, when we were about 5 minutes away from the bakery (at 3:15pm), Mike called us back to tell us that they would be closing any minute and could not see us. He didn't ask us where we were or consider the fact that we had just driven that far in horrible weather, or the fact that you close at 4:00, not 3:15. We were obviously disappointed to hear this after driving for four hours and even more disappointed that nobody picked up the phone or even acknowledged or voicemails to at least tell us to turn around. These people need to take a refresher coarse in Business 101. Come on, what place of business, just doesn't answer the phone for hours on end during store hours. To make things worse, I see that there is a $50 charge on our credit card for "missing" our appointment. I called and they said that they would refund it. Still, not even so much as an apology for completely ignoring our calls all day. I have to say, this is by far the worst experience that I have had with a vendor to date. Sugar Bakers is a great example of why wedding planning is stressful.
