Naper Settlement is a really interesting place to take the kids on a little local field trip. A lot of interesting little houses and cabins from the 1800s. They are really fun to walk through and the tours are great. Every summer they also have an even called civil war days. People dressed up from that era camp the entire time and you can see how they lived.
