I called Petit for a leak in the ceiling of my rental property. Being that I could not get over there to look at it and assuming water leak equals plumber I was at the mercy of Petit. I was told on the phone they charge a $65 disbatch fee to go over there and look at it and if there was work to be done they would apply that $65 towards the work. Since I felt that was fair I gave them my credit card number over the phone and asked them to please call me once they look at it and let me know exactly what is wrong. The only call I recieved was from the other company I had over there First Atlantic Restoration who told me by LOOKING at it that it was a duct problem and he doesnt think a plumber would be able to help but to try an HVAC or an Airduct person. I called an AC person and explained the problem to him then called the plumber and asked him to call the AC person and explain it to him so that he could understand exactly what is wrong. The AC person called me back and told me I need a Duct person WITHOUT EVEN SEEING the property. When I talked to Petit not once did they say "Ive been trying to reach you, we had to do x y & z" So it was my understanding that I was simply charged the $65 to look at at and since they couldnt help and that was it. 3 days later I have a $175 charge on my account from Petit and still have a leak. I called the office to ask why I was charged so much since my understading was Petit could not fix it. I was told that test were run which accounted for the rest. My problem with this is if First Atlantic Restoration could LOOK at the problem and tell me I dont need a plumber, and an AC guy over the phone could HEAR the problem and tell me I dont need a plumber, why couldnt the expert in plumbing diagnose the problem without doing an additional $110 in tests? They took advantage of having my credit card number and me not knowing the full extent of the problem to price gouge me. I would never ever use them again and never recommend them to anyone.
