$1000 for Nothing! 1/30/2011

When I told my car in for a state inspection they told me that it would cost around $2600 to get to the point where it would pass. The car wasn't worth that much so I got rid of the car and bought a used one from a close friend. When it started having trouble starting I took it in and was told that I needed to replace my alternator. I told them I was surprised because the guy who jumped my car said that the alternator was producing the right charge level. I asked for an estimate and was told $400 for the part and $200 for the labor. When I told him that the part seem high he said it was because it was a Lexus. He also said that I should replace my aftermarket battery. I told him I didn't think I needed to, he agreed, but said that if I replace both he guaranteed that it would fix my problem. I wanted the problem to go away so I agreed to both. When I picked up my car I was surprised that they managed to push up the final bill to a few dollars short of $1000. I felt that I was being ripped off and paid it figuring that I wouldn't be going back there again. The first thing that I noticed when I drove off was that my car was noisy, it wasn't when I took it in. It was strange, but I didn't see how their repair work would have created that problem. No, they wanted to replace my starter this time and charge me for it. When I complained about the work that I paid for that wasn't needed they just claimed that it was needed and that the starter might be a new problem. I told them that I didn't think that they knew what they were doing and took my car away. I didn't want to pay for them to replace my entire electrical system part by part. When I finally looked for why my car was making noise I could see more
