I do not think that people from out of town typically consider Baltimore to be a great town for art, but the city does have some surprisingly good museums and this is certainly one of them. Located right next door to Johns Hopkins University, the Baltimore Museum of Art is actually the largest museum in Maryland. It's got a good variety of works and it has an especially strong collection in Impressionism as well as 20th century art. Additionally, there are two outdoor sculpture gardens at the museum, a nice gift shop, and Gertrude's, a very well known restaurant with outdoor seating in the summer and a famous weekend brunch.
