Editorial review from Citysearch 6/20/2012

Ms Wideman was my mother's estate attorney. During the probate process, she invited questions, but when I sent an email, I got a patronizing lecture -- but no actual answers. 4 weeks after we got the death certificate, I asked about changing the account that some of my mother's money was in, so that it would be insured. Her response was that that couldn't happen until certain paperwork was issued by the court. Turns out, as beneficiaries on that account, my brothers and I had the authority to do what I'd asked her to do the day we received the death cert. Estate & elder law are listed as areas of law she practices, but she forgot (?) that nothing was needed from the court or the lawyer or the executor for me and my brothers to claim the money in this particular account. She has shown a lack of support/compassion and a lack of knowledge. Don't leave your heirs in her hands! more
