It's not a typical sushi restaurant. The (unfair) negative reviews on CitySearch seem to come from people who went expecting the usual Americanized B.S. parody of a Japanese restaurant. This is simply better than the usual Japanese ""steakhouse"". The sushi was phenomenal and the other menu items were surprisingly good.
People also complain about how crowded/cramped the restaurant is. If anything, this speaks to how great the food is! Of course a small place that serves food this good is going to be packed!
And as for the complaints about the rude staff, I have never come across a rude server at Sticky Rice. Amateur restaurant reviewers invariably forget the first rule of dining out: If you respect the wait staff, they will respect you, especially when they're packed.
