I lost my job and was unable to pay rent. I went to court to explain that I wanted to pay the rent but didn't have the money. The judge listened to what I had to say and then ruled against me but instead of just ending and telling me to get out in five days, he asked the landlord if they would be willing to hold off until the writts day if I could come up with the money would they accept it late. He also told me to go the first floor to get a list of charities to see if they could help and to check with others. I got all the money but 55 dollars before the writts date the landlord took it and I did not get evicted.
