Worst dining experience of our lives, not authentic 1/23/2010

Having lived in Germany for two years and having traveled extensively since then throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland, this restaurant is nothing like authentic German restaurants which are run efficiently and serve wonderful tasteful food with good presentation. We have even eaten in establishments near the Linderhof Castle in southern Bavaria and this is a sorry namesake. The Germans pride themselves on being precise, with good organization and being on time. We arrived hungry at 5:15 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2010, looking forward to some good German cooking, and we walked out after paying for our drinks and appetizer at 8:15 PM, with no meal yet served! The wait was well over 45 between ordering the appetizer and it being served. Another 45 minutes between the soup and the salad, which we had to prod the waitress to please bring to the table. The service was just appalling, no one to buss the tables or make sure you have water in your glass or bread and butter on the table. The appetizer of sausages was nothing to brag about and the salad was not very tasty. The soup was extremely heavy on the pepper and contained only a couple of overcooked beans. We love German food and being new to the Knoxville area had hoped that the Linderhof would meet our expectations. If you are ever in the Chicago area, the Schnitzel Platz on North Avenue in Glendale Heights is the best we have ever found in the States. We will never return to the Linderhof and will never recommend anyone else waste their time there. This experience ruined an evening for us. Pros: Good bread Cons: Service more
