Much Better 12/5/2011

Linderhof is one of my favorite restaurants in K town. I was worried when I first heard about the new ownership change but things have really changed for the better! The restaurant's operations have seemed to have been totally rethought. Long live Linderhof! more

a Garbage factory 11/22/2010

Well, I hope you don't mind sweating like a rodent in the summer heat and that you planned a good 5 hours for your meal. I am warm-natured, and can't stand to be overly hot in an atmosphere that should be relaxing and comfortable. Both times I've been to this place, it had to have been 80+ degrees in there, probably mostly due to all the other people crammed into a space the size of a bedroom. So inadequate air conditioning is just where it starts. Every request takes an extremely long time because of inadequate wait staff. Drinks, appetizers, etc. all take a crazy long time. But entrees are ridiculous, taking a couple hours both visits I was there. All this was while my drink stayed empty and sweat beads were forming a little stream down my rib cage and square into my pants. The reason for 2 stars is that the food has been pretty damn good both times. But I don't really care how good the food is if I'm tortured for hours leading up to it. I admit, I'm not ""refined"" enough to have travelled the world like some of the other reviewers and been able to parade down the streets of Europe with my dainty parasol, but I have a pretty good idea that Germany knows of the concept of A/C and how to implement it! more

The finest dining in Knoxville 1/24/2010

My wife and I have traveled and lived all over the world. Restaurant Linderhof is trully the most worldly of all the restaurants in Knoxville. Fabulous place! I have read the reviews. Those who talk negatively about Restaurant Linderhof have no idea what they are talking about. abunch of Knoville hicks if you ask me. They have no class. Restaurant Linderhof provides one with an experience like no other. Authentic German food, Authentic German beer and wine, servers in Lederhosen, a roving accordion player, etc. I could go on and on! Pros: The food and beer Cons: long wait (no big deal, just don't be in a hurry) more

Worst dining experience of our lives, not authentic 1/23/2010

Having lived in Germany for two years and having traveled extensively since then throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland, this restaurant is nothing like authentic German restaurants which are run efficiently and serve wonderful tasteful food with good presentation. We have even eaten in establishments near the Linderhof Castle in southern Bavaria and this is a sorry namesake. The Germans pride themselves on being precise, with good organization and being on time. We arrived hungry at 5:15 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2010, looking forward to some good German cooking, and we walked out after paying for our drinks and appetizer at 8:15 PM, with no meal yet served! The wait was well over 45 between ordering the appetizer and it being served. Another 45 minutes between the soup and the salad, which we had to prod the waitress to please bring to the table. The service was just appalling, no one to buss the tables or make sure you have water in your glass or bread and butter on the table. The appetizer of sausages was nothing to brag about and the salad was not very tasty. The soup was extremely heavy on the pepper and contained only a couple of overcooked beans. We love German food and being new to the Knoxville area had hoped that the Linderhof would meet our expectations. If you are ever in the Chicago area, the Schnitzel Platz on North Avenue in Glendale Heights is the best we have ever found in the States. We will never return to the Linderhof and will never recommend anyone else waste their time there. This experience ruined an evening for us. Pros: Good bread Cons: Service more

Real German in East Tennessee! 12/16/2009

I found the Linderhof very authentic to German style cuisine and restaurant setting. Traveling all throughout Europe it is well known that German food is surely the most satisfying of all the countries there. The Linderhof quality of food is at least the highest quality of German food I have found here in the United States thus far. Pros: Very Friendly atmousphere and great food. Cons: I wasn't in Germany more

A jewel in Knoxville 8/29/2009

This is by far the best restaurant in Knoxville. It's the only real restaurant, where you can have dinner and have an experience, as opposed to just satisfying your hunger. Pros: Amazing European food, original environment more

Love it! 4/23/2009

This is one of my favorite restaurants ever. Anything you pick off the menu is great. Plan to be there for a good two hours. Everything is made to order. Literally. I recommend this restuarant to everyone. If you want a different dinning experience you have found the place to go! Pros: Great food! more

I loved Linderhof! 4/22/2009

Linderhof has a truly unique atmosphere. Servers were sweet and polite. We were served a three course meal in a timely fashion. Food was awesome! My husband lived in Germany so he knows good german food; he really enjoyed his meal and so did I. Wish we had Linderhof in Alabama. Pros: Delicious Wienerschnitzel! Tasty Salad Plate! Cons: Don't expect fast food. This taste home-made! more

A waste of 2 hours on bland food 4/21/2009

The hubby and I are foodies and love eating so we make it a point to visit Linderhof 2-3 times a year. We knew what to expect or so we thought but last night will be our last visit. Which I'm fairly happy with since it's not by my suggestion that we visit this establishment. Yes, the service is normally slow so we were expecting it but we weren't prepared for our drink order to take 30 minutes and another hour to get our food. This of course is due to their ""not using a microwave or deep fryer."" I had the pan fried trout-which I got another 10 minutes after everyone had their food!!! The service is civil but not what you call friendly. And to top it off our daughter's and her friend's water refill was filled with ""particales"". My guess was cigarrette ashes though our server was suggesting parsley flakes? A pinch of parsley flakes with your water? Complaint ignored. Basically her attitude was, it is what it is, if you don't like it don't come. Perfect solution! Cons: Long wait on bland food more

Do not listen to the reviewers below. 12/11/2008

Linderhof is regarded as one of the best German restaurants in the United States. Yes, the service is slow, but that is part of the experience. It is a European restaurant run by Europeans. They have a different concept of dining. Instead of rushing through a meal, cramming your face as fast as possible in order to get home and watch that new TV show, they believe in sitting back, having drinks, and talking with your loved ones. Eating there will take at least two hours, but believe me, the wait is worth it. I recommend the Furstenteller - and wash it down with some Weihenstephaner from the tap. more

First and Last Visit to the Linderhof 7/8/2008

We visited the Linderhof for dinner this evening for the first time and it will definitely be our last. We live very close to the restaurant and allowed over 1 and a half hours for dinner. There was approximately 10 customers in the restaurant. We were seated immediately and ordered promptly. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our meal. This restaurant has no concept of time or concern for their customers. I can't imagine this place staying in business with this level of customer service. If you are considering eating at this restaurant you need to have an extraordinary amount of patience and at least 2 and a half hours to spare. Sixty plus dollars for 3 people and over 2 hours invested left me extremely dissatisfied. Cons: Extremely Poor Service more

No not waste time or money 6/20/2008

My husband arrived thirty minutes early to get us a table and the bartender said she was too busy to get him a beer. When the rest of us arrived we were sat and we immediately ordered our beers. Thirty minutes later the beer finally arrived and at that point we went ahead and ordered our food. Two hours later our food had not arrived. We finally got up put money on the table for the beers and left. Then we were chased out in the parking lot by the waitress that wasn't even serving us. We ended up going back in to pay for the soup and the bill for just me and my husband was $50 dollars. This was for two beers a piece and soup. Very embarassed in front of our friends. Will never recommend again. WOW!!! Very bad experience. Best part the owner is the cook and had no concern about our bad experience. more

Top German Restaurant in all of US 4/24/2008

Yes, it's true: Top German Restaurant in all of US. Knoxville doesn't know how special it is to have Linderhof. My wife and I have been to many German restaurants in the States, all have been mediocre to horrible and left us yearning to be back in Germany. Not at Linderhof, the food is unbelievably great - and very authentic. My wife is from Germany, and I lived there for five years - Linderhof's food would compare to any 5-star restaurant in Germany. Pros: The food and the decor. It's like stepping into another world. Cons: Thinking you will get out of there in 45 minutes. more

2hrs and 46 mintue wait for food........ 4/12/2008

Went to the resturant even after reading the previous reviews about long wait times. I can understand good food takes time. Not the case here. We waited 2 hours and 46 mintues for our food. There was a waitress and a waiter. The waitress was not friendly, spent an obvious extra amount of time at certain tables smoozing with certain customers (friends? preception of money/good tip?) I don't know what the reason was, but she was very unattentive to our table. She really made the experience not a good one. more
