I frequented this place when it first opened - it had a great selection of wine, the drinks were good, the atmosphere was great. I came in every once in a while for lunch as well.
Now I get emails about Latin Night with Brazilian Cocktails and the wine list has been replaced with the Magma Flow or whatever it is on the drink menu. It's ambiance has gone down a notch and feels a tad bit more like a Shenanigan's or an Applebee's than the upscale chill-out it was before.
At some point in the last year or so the bar in the way back started looking more like a BBQ joint as well. Hmm.
Still, it's a good place to get a fine drink, if you don't mind a little bit of American whimsy on the side. Hey, we're in Hawai'i... What can we expect?
Although these days I prefer the roof deck at 39 Hotel if it's not too crowded.
Pros: Good wine selection, cool patio
Cons: Plates small for dinner, drink menu is cheesy
