Don't Do It 7/30/2009

I have been using this vet since I brought my dog home over 7 years ago. I was never super imressed but then again I only ever needed them for regular check ups, shots, etc... However, when I actually had a problem they fell short--big time. I took my german shepard in for a flea check in March 2009, she had been scratching herself silly. At that time they ""checked"" and said there were no fleas. They said she was probably scrathing due to recent change in food and gave me steroids for her ($90+). She continued to scratch but we went on with the assumption that she did not have fleas. We were then attacked by what seemed like millions of fleas at the end of June 2009, so we took her back to the vet--and she was treated for fleas ($107+). By that point our entire house was jumping with fleas. We tried to treat the infestation ourselves but we had no idea how bad it was. We sprayed, used boric acid, and continued the fight unsuccessfully for 3 weeks. We eventually had to hire an exterminator ($145) at which point my ankles looked like raw hamburger meat. I know we had fleas when we first took her in March. So thanks to these vets we have spent aproximately $400 for a problem that should have been solved in March. Take my advice if you need a flea check go to a different vet. more
