To petition persistently; importune: solicited the neighbors for donations.3. To entice or incite to evil or illegal action.4. To approach or accost (a person) with an offer of sexual services. I don't think putting signs in people's yards falls under any of these definitions of soliciting. I think putting a small lawn sign in someone's yard is better than putting fliers on mailboxes, which is illegal.
