Can we all agree that the regulated rates for towing in CO are just WAY TO HIGH 1/26/2009

Ok just so you guys know what the state reg's are on tow company charges (so when you get charged close to $300 you know why). \r \r $140.00 hook-up fee\r $3.45/mile\r $27.00/day (this starts as soon as your car reaches their lot)\r $60.00 after hours (law states what ""normal"" business hours are M-Sat 8-53\r \r Now, I think towing companies are mostly evil (I mean come ON they are legall taking your property and extorting $ out of you , right?) Sure they are great for when your car is in a ditch, whatever.\r \r BUT I think the main point is is that they will charge whatever maximum the state allows. Just recently graduated from college I know several people that have been towed...but it was NEVER $275. My dad constantly has cars towed away from the huge steel mill that he works in and he says that it ALWAYS about $100.00. I think it is important to make our law makers understand that $275 is what a minimum wage earner makes in a 40 hour week and people just can't afford this bs. PS a tow in DOWNTOWN CHICAGO $125.00 my friend paid on a Saturday night and he did NOT give her any breaks...CHICAGO people not freaking Dever!\r \r ALSO IF YOU CATCH YOUR CAR BEING TOWED THE MAXIMUM ""DROP RATE"" (TO LET YOUR CAR GO/NOT TOW IT) IS $64.00 AND THEY MUST ACCEPT YOUR OFFER FOR THIS...THE ONE FAIR LAW THAT THEY HAVE ON THIS! Pros: NOT MEAN Cons: TOW COMPANIES ARE ALL AROUND EVIL ! more
