Poe's was my worst restaurant experience ever. I have never been treated so rudely by waitstaff and a manager, and don't want anyone to experience what my family and I did. I had been there once before and enjoyed the food, so decided to take my mother, brother, and sister back while we were on a family vacation. The place was crowded, we pulled up a few chairs and were told very rudely by the waitress that we had to move, which we immediately did. The same waitress then came back to take our order, and had a very hostile attitude and gloatingly asked my mother and I for our IDs (my mother is almost 60 and I 30), but we carried on. Then the most astonishing thing happened - the MANAGER came to our table and told us we had to leave - no questions asked. When we asked what the problem was, he told us that the waitress had told him that we said ""F&(* you"" to her and called her a ""B*$%*"". We were absolutely astonished at not only the false accusations of the waitress (we had had no harsh words at all - she seemed to have a hostile attitude toward us), but how the manager handled the situation - he didn't ask us, the customers if there was a problem or to hear our side, he simply came over and told us to leave. The waitress was clearly suffering from some sort of severe mental condition - what kind of person so flippantly accuses someone of such horrible behavior when they know it is not true- akin to someone who would falsely accuse someone of a crime. We were perhaps more disappointed in how the manager completely mishandled the situation - insulting and accusing a n innocent family. Although the manager finally heard our story and agreed to get us a different waitress, we ultimately left - everyone deserves basic respect, especially when patronizing a restaurant. Hopefully the owner of the restaurant will recognize a change needs to be made before any other patrons are affected as was my family.
