Union is a suprisingly consistent exponent of the "new new cuisine" that specializes in small plates featuring fresh ingredients and intense flavors, all presented with quite a bit of originality and elegance. The atmosphere is postmodern "cool" but the lighting, music and color palette create an intimacy often missing in contemporary restaurants. Definitely not a "family" restaurant or for those seeking Cheesecake Factory portions of ultimately forgettable fare.
