I have looked through the years for someone who could color my hair like I want it. Ted Cortese, owner of DiVa Studio, is the only one that has been able to this. When I go there (every 4 weeks), he asked me did I like what he did last time and do I want to change anything. He has a beautiful salon and everyone there is courteous and professional. more

I drive 1.5 hours to get my hair done here -- so worth it!! 2/15/2012

I can't believe how much I love my hair! In the past, at other salons, I have found that even with a decent haircut I leave the salon needing to style the hair myself to get it to look the way I want. For the first time in my life, I left a salon loving everything about my hair -- cut, color, styling, everything!! I have dark, naturally curly hair which apparently makes it tricky to do anything special with my hair, such as adding highlights or lowlights. Every time I tried this in the past, I would end up leaving with my hair just looking faded and frizzy. But I left diVa last week with my hair a dark chocolate brown with rich caramel highlights. Everyone is telling me how great my hair looks. And I love it too! Finally, I get to be one of those people who leaves a salon feeling like a million dollars! Ted is the best!! On another note, I have to say that everyone at diVa was so incredibly nice. I had to cancel an appointment on the day I was originally scheduled to come in because I was sick. Kendy (sp?) was so nice and so understanding and seemed genuinely concerned with hoping that I felt better. In general, diVa is a salon of the highest caliber, staffed by some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. And Ted is, in short, a genius! Pros: null Cons: null more

Very Pleasing Experience 1/14/2012

My experience with Diva Colour Studio today was wonderful. The staff was very professional and friendly. The owner Ted was a miracle worker with my hair. The cut and colour is perfect, I've been receiving compliments from everyone. I intend to continue to use them, and I would recommend them to my family and friends. Always a Great Experience 1/11/2012

I have been going to Ted for about 5 years now and have always walked out of the salon feeling great! Ted is a Master of colour and never has my hair looked bad or felt like I have had colour put on it. Also, the haircut is is superior. I don't have a lot of time to fool around with my hair in the mornings and all I have to do is brush, a little blow dry and shake and it just naturally falls into place. I would recommend Diva and Ted to anyone who needs to get back on track to beautiful hair. Pros: null Cons: null more

2nd worst experience of my life! I'm very surprised by the other comments. Like several other reviewers, I tried several places after moving to Memphis but was unhappy with all of them. I saw a magazine article about diVa and followed up with some online research. My first experience was okay - the color was okay but was very disappointed in the cut. I tried to tell Ted what I wanted but he kept "shushing" me while he worked his 'canvas.' It was not horrible but wasn't what I wanted and he tried to do some touch ups once I had a chance to speak but it was too late for everything. I went back a 2nd time with the intent to be more clear about what kind of cut I prefer. He listened but I'm not sure he heard. I have shoulder length hair and I'm still trying to grow out the 3 inch pieces he cut at my crown. But the absolute worst was the color - 2nd worst hair experience I have ever had!!!! Without discussing he gave me all over color (which I hate because you have to get redone more frequently) and the color was 5 shades darker!!!! This was never discussed! He just did it and by the time I realized it was too late! I'm glad everyone else is having good experiences but I strongly caution to discuss his intentions before turning him loose on a new "canvas." Pros: null Cons: null more

Best Color I Have Ever Had! 7/27/2011

When I moved to Memphis I went to at least 8 salons looking for natural looking highlights. Everywhere I went I got brass or white streaks. When I found Diva I was thrilled! I have been going there for five years now and every time I walk out I am extremely satisfied. People always complement the healthy look of my hair - it is long and get color every few months - so that says a lot about the care they take to keep the hair in good shape. If you are looking for good color they really are the best! more

Highly recommended! 7/2/2011

I just colored my hair for the first time and I must say it was GREAT. I was really afraid to do it and Ted explained everything he was going to do to make me feel more comfortable. He even has special lighting so he can see the colors more effeciently. I originally went to Diva to get a color analysis. I was telling them that I had just gotten a terrible haircut. While I was there Ted was able to fix it! He has been cutting hair for a long time and he really knows what he is doing. My husband even noticed what a nice shape my naturally wavy hair has now. Teds experienced hands took control of my hair and whipped it into shape! He really knows how to bring out the "diva" within. I highly recommend it!! more

The owner, Ted, is an artist and individualizes his craft to whatever "canvas" he is painting. No cookie-cutter experience at Diva. His staff is in sync with his goal for each client, and I leave there very pleased with my color/cut every time. more

The owner, Ted, at Diva Colour Studio is a true artist! I let him decide how to color and cut my hair, and I have never been disappointed! He knows what colors work with your skin tone and can make highlights look like they are natural! Diva Colour Studio is the BEST salon in Memphis! more

I relocated to Memphis from Atlanta and had a major meltdown. My hair looked great when I arrived, but after having it colored in Covington, Brighton, Atoka, Munford and Memphis, I looked like a witch with straw for hair. more

Thank goodness I found Diva Colour Studio! On a whim, I colored my hair dark, dark, daaaark brown several months ago and immediately regretted it. Other hair stylists told me that I had two options: keep dying it dark, or bleach it and start over. Bleach?! I did not want to ruin my hair. So I started looking online for someone who could actually help me. more

Wow - what a hairdo! 9/14/2010

Okay, so it's been 2 months since my cut by Ted at diVa for Locks of Love and I love my hair cut as much as I did when he styled it the very first time! He took my low maintenance life style into consideration and this cut and color works...can't remember what he called my gray hair, but...wait, what gray hair! Oh, and the studio has great decor! The staff are smart, friendly, timely and efficient! more

Best Color Salon in Memphis 8/1/2010

Love the new remodel at DIVA. Ted, the owner and head colorist, is cordial and makes all his clients feel special. He is extremely knowledgable on hair color for women of all ages and has all the products in his salon for any and every hair problem. Ted is the best in his businessand it is treat to visit his salon. Recommend Diva to everyone looking for a special hair color that is "just right" for them. I cannot say enough positives about diva colour studio! From making the appointment to rescheduling my next appointment, I had nothing but a lovely experience. My hair had been damaged from overprocessing over the years, and Ted at diva was my last resort for hope. He did not disappoint. He sat down with me and discussed what i liked and disliked about my hair. He listened attentively and explained the entire process. His assistant was also very knowledgeable and professional. He also handpicked the products I would need to maintain my newly corrected hair. Ted is the only hairdresser for me from now on! Thank you Ted and everyone at diva for a wonderful new me! By the time I reached my mid-fifties, my natural never-before-colored strawberry blonde hair wasn?t showing a bit of gray, but it had lost its luster. I was very apprehensive about coloring, but I turned to Google and searched ?Memphis? best hair colorist?. diVa Colour Studio was at the top of the list, and as I read the reviews and consulted friends I was more reassured about taking this step. Eighteen months and six sessions with Ted Cortese later, I wonder what took me so long! Ted is an absolute genius when it comes to hair color. No one can tell that I now color my hair; they just think I somehow look different and fabulous. And now that we have added the Keratin Smoothing process to my gorgeous color, I have the same beautiful hair that I had in my teenage years. Ted ? I?m yours forever! Pros: Simply the best! I came to Ted about 3 years ago with very damaged hair caused by too much bleaching. Ted fixed me right up and today my hair is sooo much better. If you like natural looking hair color created just for you. Pros: Beautiful, natural looking color Cons: NONE more
