amazing pasta, try the chefs table! 11/26/2008

Had been seeing the ads for house made pasta and decicided to check it out and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The hostess reccomended the chefs table and it was a great experience. The chef was very informative, explaining each of the dishes and their preperation. The pastas were amazing, especially the 4 cheese gnocci and black tagliatelle with shrimp. Light and delicious. The Pizzas are cooked in the wood oven next to the table. A very lively, interactive experience. Cocktails were a little pricey at $10 but overall I thought it was very reasonable for such outstanding quality. Can't really agree with the previous comment about service, we were treated like we were the only people there (and it was quite busy). Negatives? well, the dessert list is short and my salad had a bit too much vinager but overall an excellent experience, will definately return. Pros: must-try pasta and pizza Cons: limited dessert menu, cocktails a bit pricey more

received undercooked food 10/11/2008

Went to Zooma for my mom's birthday. The waiter was not professional, I think he may have been new. The pasta was great. But, my brother order chicken parm and one of the pieces was undercooked. The waiter took it off the bill, but he acted like it wasn't a big deal. I expected an apology from the management, but we didn't get one. I would expect a better experience from Zooma considering that there are so many other high end Italian places nearby. more

BEST RESTAURANT ON FEDERAL HILL !!!!!!!! 8/4/2008

I had never been to Zooma before, we went one Saturday night and I have never had better service in all my travels. The hostess was charming and funny and recommended items on the menu for me and my husband. We sat in front of the open window looking onto the street which was beautiful. The pastas at zooma are GREAT!!! I did not know which to choose as they all looked amazing. Our waiter was fantastic, he did everything without asking. The staff has been trained to cater to your every need, and it shows. The menu was out of this world. I would reccommend this to anyone, they have outdoor dining, a hot bar with plasma tvs and beautiful dining room in the back, which I did not even know was there. I will become a regular at zooma. Pros: Best service, Great menu, long wine list, great cocktails, fun more

Phenomenal 3/6/2007

There are many places that claim to be 'authentic', especially on Federal Hill, but this place truly is. Having lived in Rome for a number of years I can tell you that the pasta and entree's here rival my favorite Roman tratorrias. The pizza is thin crusted and slightly chewy, cooked in a wood oven and simply delicious. Probably the best in the north-east. The pasta is actually al-dente, the sauces simple and very tasty. I ate al-fresco here in September, the front windows open up to a flower-covered front and sidewalk, very european. They apparently grow their own tomatoes on the roof during the summer and the ""rooftop caprese salad"", made with brandywine variety tomatoes (so the waiter said), was amazing. The interior is modern and lively, if a bit loud, but very warm. Definately NOT your ""typical italian restaurant"", this place must be experienced. Fantastic service as well. Pros: incredible food, great wine list, cocktails, al freco dining Cons: parking (but free valet), street a bit noisy more

best atmosphere a real winner during the summer on wednesday nights 10/22/2006

The food and service here are top notch. Calamari is always fresh and presentation of the entrees is impressive. Wednesday nights is ladies night and during the summer time the place is packed till last call. A good time for a normally slow night. Pros: food, ambiance, good singles scene Cons: parking is tough use the vallet more

  • Welcome to Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante

An authentic Italian dining experience, an award-winning wine list, and excellent service - that is what Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante is well known for in Providence, Rhode Island, and beyond.

This Italian wine bar and restaurant is located on DePasquale Plaza, across the square from Venda Ravioli at 275 Atwells Avenue, in the heart of historic Federal Hill - the Little Italy section of the capital city. Both Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante and Venda Ravioli are owned by the Costantino family.

Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante has a new executive chef and a new menu. The new menu - a dinner version of the authentic Italian food that is offered daily at Venda Ravioli - is the creation of Chef Salvatore Cefaliello and his protege, Chef Anthony Chiero. Both are responsible for the food that is served in Venda's cafe during the lunch hour. Chef Cefaliello remains in the kitchen at Venda, which is open for lunch seven days a week. Chef Chiero is in charge of the kitchen across the plaza at Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante, which is open for dinner nightly.

This beautiful Italian restaurant offers year-round dining on two floors, and outdoors on the flower-filled plaza during the warm weather months.

The extensive wine list offers vintages from Italy and other wine-producing parts of the world, including more than 20 wines by the glass.

The hours of operation for Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante changes with the seasons. The popular restaurant sometimes closes on Sunday for private parties, so it is recommended to call to check on availability. Free valet parking is always offered.

All this is the latest chapter being written by the Costantino family, owners of Venda Ravioli, which has been making pasta for more than 70 years in the Old World tradition. Venda Ravioli is dedicated to teaching the public the importance of quality ingredients in food preparation. A complete line of Italian food and specialty products is available at Venda, and now that devotion to traditional Italian culture can also be sampled across the plaza at Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante.
