Yeah, alright, so I'm a guy and I like the symphony, don't hate! And I'm straight. I usually go about 2 or 3 times a year, I love going with my wife, and it makes for a great date night. Who knew Spano's had 10 years at the ASO, pretty cool. more

  • The Scene
In the music business for more than half a century, the 95-member Atlanta Symphony Orchestra keeps busy with more than 200 yearly concerts. Music Director Robert Spano and Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles produce a season of well-attended classical concerts, popular pops and family concerts, and special holiday performances. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra complement the ASO, whose performers make a special commitment to Atlanta's young musicians through discovery, teaching and mentoring programs in local schools.

    The Draw
With more than 1,700 seats, Symphony Hall is located in Midtown's Woodruff Arts Center, along with the Atlanta College of Art, the Alliance Theatre Company and the High Museum of Art. A new Symphony Center is planned for a site just one block from the ASO's current setting, on 14th and Peachtree streets. Spanish-born architect Santiago Calatrava will design the space to open in 2008.
