I tried this place out about a month ago. First, plan accordingly; the wait will be long, so if you want to have dinner at around 7:00 p.m. go and put your name on a waiting list at around 5:00 p.m. or 5:30. The food was good! My Boyfriend had the half chicken and it was fantastic. I had a sampler dinner and it was okay, it lacked in seasoning. The dessert is really great. I will go back and have the my boyfriend's choice for dinner. Oh and don't forget to bring some wine or beer! more

Food aside, the management of this restaurant is atrocious! I have never been treated so poorly in my life! After my boyfriend had sour cream spilled all over him all we were given was a halfhearted sorry from the waitress who had done it, we weren?t even offered a moist towel to wipe up the mess let alone assistance cleaning up the mess, a formal apology, or compensation for damages. After we pointed out that the clothing would have to be dry cleaned the waitress offered us $10 FROM HER OWN POCKET! My family and I planned on going to Wholly expecting the usual crowd and its well known 45 minutes to an hour wait. But, thanks to the advise of the other diners of this site, I called ahead and was put on a wait list since they do not take reservations. Once there, we waited approximately 2 minutes, if that, before being seated. The service was friendly and prompt even though they were extremely busy. The food was outstanding, hands down the best Mexican eats in the north burbs. Even if we had to wait the usual 45 minutes it takes to get a table, the food would have been well worth it. I say go in expecting a long wait with a good attitude, and a smile on your face; you will be treated in kind, and with some awesome food to boot. You wont be disappointed. Ok not only did we wait over an hour and fifteen minutes to be sat, but the staff was overly rude, with the exception of the waiter. The food was mediocre at best, not enough spice or flavor. On top of that there was some type of insect crawling on my plate and the manager said ""You were almost finished with it anyway, does that mean it's ok to have an insect crawling on the plate I'm eating from? She never even apologized, she offered me something else and said the insect did not come from the food. Then where did it come from? Yes, the wait is long but that indicates the popularity of the place. The food was excellent and the service better than expected considering the crowd. Everything I have tasted in this restaurant has been delicious - the best Mexican food I have eaten in the Chicago area. The few disgruntled reviewers were probably ill-prepared for the wait and it is reflected in their comments - you can't fault the food or its preparation. This restaurant serves some of the best Mexican food I've ever had, and I'm Mexican, so I eat Mexican food almost every day. I agree with the other reviews that the wait is incredibly long, I've waited two hours on two different occasions, and tons more have done the same. If the restaurant was as bad as the other review say, who would wait for two hours to be seated, certainly not this Mexican. I highly recommend calling ahead. the restaurant is BYOB, so I bring enough beer for me to drink while I wait and enough to drink with my meal it is a great time, please go, but don't be uptight, if u r stay home. We called to get our name on the list to avoid a wait. We got there on time and were told that it would be an additional twnety minutes. After FORTY FIVE minutes, we informed the hostess and two other employees that we were leaving because of this and they simply said, ""That's fine."" When I told them that that wasn't ""Fine,"" the staff told me that I should expect to wait an indefinate amount of additional time because they were busy. When I informed them that their idea was not going to happen and we WERE going to be the next one's seated they did comply. (It was clear I was going to let the other patrons hear my dissatisfaction.) The staff then snickered and rolled their eyes among themselves because of my reaction to unnacceptable service. I was amused by the food. They have these delicious chipotle mashed potatoes. And the skirt steak was perfect. It was one of the best Mexican restaurant s Ive ever been to. The service was great and my kid enjoyed the fried cinnamon ice cream. Everyone participated on singing Happy Birthday to him. I totally recommend this place with a reservation. After waiting for 5 to 10 minutes to be seated, 5 more to order, the food came. A large portion of mediocre flautas came, too much to eat. Asked for a container to take leftovers and a small salsa condiment to go with it. This they wanted to charge for so after I was denied this I asked for an empty lid and container to empty contents that was brought with meal to which they wanted to charge for. This after spending $14.00 + for lunch. I would not recomend this establishment at all. Surprisingly cheap not to offer what was asked for to take leftovers home.
