Now I have discovered that, when originally installed, they did not use the proper piston. The piston comes in plain sight in a baggie taped to the air compressor (the baggie is still taped to the compressor today!). This piston is to be used in the air handler to make the units compatible. For a professional, this cannot be an oversight. Then, in Nov., 2009, the Westbrook tech who did the yearly service call did nothing to correct the "mistake". \r

I also discovered that they cut a hole in the ceiling for a vent. However, it goes into the open attic and no duct is connected to it at all. I did not notice it because the grille covers the hole in the ceiling. So all this time, blistering summer heat has been coming straight into this room from the attic.
