Great Spot! 12/3/2010

One of my favorite spots in Boulder. They have a great selection of food and beer. It can be a bit crowded and noisy but their burgers are worth checking out and the staff is always friendly. more

great food, great people, great beer 6/24/2010

The Walnut Brewery brews all their own beer, and it's all great! My favorite is the Old Elk Brown Ale. They also have seasonal beers with a beer tapping every month unveiling a new beer. Plus if you're there on that day from 6-630 you get a free pint! There is a large group of regulars who come in (nearly) every day and chat and drink and keeps the atmosphere friendly. The staff is usually pretty friendly and well informed about the beer and food and anything else you would like to talk about. There is a wide variety of food for people of any taste. They can substitute their burger pattys for vegetarian ones or for buffalo ones. Good variety of appetizers- try their nachos! AMAZING! best nachos ever. It gets a little loud sometimes especially in the bar area, but there are booths that keep it down a bit. The air conditioning is also ridiculous, they keep it so high in the summer and in winter the heat doesn't fill up the huge place (rafters and high high ceilings) so it's a good idea to bring a light jacket regardless of when you're going. Very recommended. Pros: beer, regulars, staff, food, NACHOS Cons: air conditioning, loud more

Great beer and Menu 1/13/2010

First off, I tried the Spinach Queso Dip for an appetizer with their brewed Pale Ale Beer. Then ordered the short rib dish and it was amazing although fairly small for something you get at a brewery. the service was great and atmosphere is what you would expect at a brewery. Finished the night off with their Purple Dunkelweizen beer. It was great. Pros: Beer, Menu, and Service Cons: ????Sure there is one but cant think of one more

Loves It 9/7/2009

Even when there is a wait, its not a big deal, you can grab a drink at the bar or even snag a bar-side table and then grub there. Their chili-cheese fries are amazing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the chicken fried chicken and dream about it. The service is good too, the waiters are very accommodating and super knowledgeable and friendly. The flaming cheese appetizer is yummy and fun, its like a show, even if it is a neighboring table ordering it because they flame it on fire table-side! GO HERE! GET THE INDIAN PALE ALE AND CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN! oh and since they brew on site the nitro-beer is so easy to drink its kind of a ""chug only"" beer, def amazing. Pros: chicken fried chicken Cons: so popular that sometimes you have to wait more

The place to eat in boulder 11/9/2008

This place has it all. As with most restaurants in this town, it offers something for everyone. In fact, when I have guests in from out of town, this is the place I take them. The food is consistently excellent. In fact, over years and years of having dinner at the Walnut, I have NEVER had a bad meal. The beers are always delicious and there is a great selection of whiskey and other spirits at the full bar. Even when the joint is totally packed, the service is great and the food is worth the wait. The menu is fairly priced and if you are going for happy hour, brunch, lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed. Cheers Walnut Brewery! Thanks for doing what you do! Pros: great beer, excellent food, consistently great overall more

Great beer and food, bizarre location 11/18/2006

The Walnut Brewery is stuck in an industrial park off of walnut street. Its not a drive by and stop in kinda place, because its unlikley you would know its there. But the food value is stellar and beers are tasty. If you go you must try the Porter Shake. Its is out of this world good!!! \r \r The staff is very friendly and on warm nights go sit on the patio while listening to live music! The restaurant is dog friendly as many cool neighborhood spots in Boulder are, so you can bring fido to romp around with his buds while you hang with yours. Its actually nice that the bar is not in the midst of the Pearl Street mall and has to be seeked out by the most unique of the unique in Boulder. \r \r I definitely recommend stopping in for a beer and some good conversation and I'm pretty sure they have tours of the brewery too! Pros: Great neighborhood pub with delicious food and a great value Cons: hard to find more

Good Beer - Nasty Service 11/13/2006

The beer here is decent, the usual fare you might expect in a local brewery. Just beware the seating arrangements on a busy night - we came in on a Friday for happy hour and moved to a larger booth while waiting for more friends to arrive. The wait staff hovered non-stop, asking if we were expecting more people and who had ""allowed"" us to take that booth. Certainly not a welcoming atmosphere. Average food, nice selection on the menu. more

Good beer, good food 8/26/2006

We had some wonderful appetizers, the pretzels are excellent! Also, the beer and cheese sampler is a great way to try a few of the beers they brew. Due to the crowd we sat outside, but the inside was very inviting with great atmosphere. The service was wonderful, big help with selecting the beers we would enjoy. The waiter was right on. The Old Elk Brown Ale was our favorite, very smooth. Pros: appetizers, beer more

Good food 7/22/2006

The food was great (we were also really hungry) and they had a few unusual items on the menu. The pretzel appetizers were great. They had a basic kids menu (we had a 6 year old with us) and we all enjoyed our food. Pros: Good food Cons: Can't think of any more

Great experience 10/9/2005

Walnut Brewery was a great experience. The beer is excellent, the food was good and abudant, the price was pretty good. The service was okay, but I think our waiter paid more attention to people who looked like they would tip better. The restaurant was oddly quiet compared to how noisy it could have been, which was nice. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our food a lot. Pros: good beer, good food, huge portions Cons: slow waitstaff more
