Awful people! My dog ripped his dew claw. I had experienced problems with the bill at Wake Vet before, so to avoid any confusion this time, I called ahead for a quote. I was told about the exam fee, the sedation fee, and how much the shots would be. Everything they told me came to about $200 and I was comfortable with that. My mom took the dog up to the vet to get the dew claw looked at. Dr Kahdy said he would have to sedate him and he would go ahead and take the dew claw off the other leg as well since he didn't really need it. Mom didn't think anything of the offer. We were called a few hours later to let us know that he was ready to be picked up. I went with mom to get our dog because we thought it would take two of us to handle a 55 lbs dog. I received the bill and it was $400! Double what I was quoted. I asked the office staff how this happened, she said she didn't know what the doctor told my mom and I needed to talk to him. I went back to a room and asked him how this happened. First he tried to tell me that he talked to my mom about all this. He really tried to put the blame on my MOTHER! Spineless! I stopped him and confronted him and flat out asked him if he told my mom what the cost of all this would be. He said he didn't know what the front staff told us (denying responsibility) and that we needed to talk to them. Back up front (again) I asked how this happened and was told they didn't know that the doctor said back in the room. The right doesn't know what the left is doing and I think they keep it that way on purpose so no one has to take the blame for sticking you with double the bill. I was absolutely furious. No apology, no one admitted fault, no accepted responsibility. Oh yes, they will do everything in their power to take care of your pet including $54 for a ""simple bandage"" $27 for the cone $105 for EACH dew claw and they will not let you know the cost up front. They might care about your pet, but they don't care one bit about the people, or being honest. They will never see us there again and if you value your income, you would be wise to stay away. more

While Dr Kahdy may be wonderful, his staff is JUST AWFUL. Had the worst experience today bringing a cat for cremation. First they told me to wait for the doctor (really-for a cremation), then were ready to charge $230 for the cremation with ashes returned. I had called East Wake and North Wake for their fees- $110 to $125 for the same service but went to Wake because it's closeby. In tears, I drove to North Wake and was treated kindly and reasonably. I will never return to Wake Animal Hospital in Planters Walk, Knightdale. Horrible people there, they should not be working with animals or people. more

AMAZING Hospital 10/26/2009

I had the GREAT fortune of going to this hospital to have my Great Dane spayed. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and everyone I encountered there gave me the sense they really cared about me and my dog. When I entered, Dr. Kahdy, who is now my dogs Dr., came out and greeted me and spoke with me about her surgery..... I tell you, he is the nicest man and put me immediately at ease. If anyone is looking for a great vet, I would say " look no further" This Dr. and hospital is where you should go. Thank you to everyone there!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Caring staff, wonderfull facility Cons: none that I can think of more

Wake Vet Review by Let's Go Home Now rescue 2/24/2008

Wake Vet has been my veterinarian for over 25 years now. I consider them the best veterinarians anywhere. There are several vets in my area and a couple I could walk to. Yet I admire and respect the professionalism and care from them that I have never found elsewhere. I have more personal thoughts on my domain www.SwiftwaterFarms.com if you need more and you are free to e-mail me as well. Thanks Sus more

A great experience! 11/29/2007

I am new to the area and have been shopping around for a vet. My shepard mix Simba is my baby and I am very particular about his medical care. I went to two other vets in the area both of whom with which I was semi-satisfied. Wake Vet was the nicest veterinary hospital I have ever been in. It was so clean and bright and the staff was not to busy to smile and greet a new customer. There are many vets there but I had requested Dr. Kahdy who is one of the owners. He was so warm and best of all did not seem to be in a hurry to see me out the door. He was great with Simba who is very timid around new people. He even took me on a tour of the clinic. I have been back twice since and am so glad I found the perfect vet for my dog. Highly recommended! Pros: clean atmosphere, friendly staff, new technology Cons: not in raleigh more
