Awful people! My dog ripped his dew claw. I had experienced problems with the bill at Wake Vet before, so to avoid any confusion this time, I called ahead for a quote. I was told about the exam fee, the sedation fee, and how much the shots would be. Everything they told me came to about $200 and I was comfortable with that. My mom took the dog up to the vet to get the dew claw looked at. Dr Kahdy said he would have to sedate him and he would go ahead and take the dew claw off the other leg as well since he didn't really need it. Mom didn't think anything of the offer. We were called a few hours later to let us know that he was ready to be picked up. I went with mom to get our dog because we thought it would take two of us to handle a 55 lbs dog. I received the bill and it was $400! Double what I was quoted. I asked the office staff how this happened, she said she didn't know what the doctor told my mom and I needed to talk to him. I went back to a room and asked him how this happened. First he tried to tell me that he talked to my mom about all this. He really tried to put the blame on my MOTHER! Spineless! I stopped him and confronted him and flat out asked him if he told my mom what the cost of all this would be. He said he didn't know what the front staff told us (denying responsibility) and that we needed to talk to them. Back up front (again) I asked how this happened and was told they didn't know that the doctor said back in the room. The right doesn't know what the left is doing and I think they keep it that way on purpose so no one has to take the blame for sticking you with double the bill. I was absolutely furious. No apology, no one admitted fault, no accepted responsibility. Oh yes, they will do everything in their power to take care of your pet including $54 for a ""simple bandage"" $27 for the cone $105 for EACH dew claw and they will not let you know the cost up front. They might care about your pet, but they don't care one bit about the people, or being honest. They will never see us there again and if you value your income, you would be wise to stay away.
