Awesome food 8/24/2006

One of the best fusion restaurants around. Great food and fantastic service. I recommend the yucca fries for appetizer. We went on a Friday night and I had their special, which was mahi mahi fish fry- just delicious. We enjoyed the ambience so much that we ended up staying after the meal was finished just sitting around chatting with our friends. We never felt rushed and our glasses were always kept full. more

A restaurant ahead of the pack 4/4/2006

One would think that to experience good dining, one would have to go to cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and San Francisco. Not necessarily so. Milwaukee has several great restaurants and Vivo Urban Grill is one of them. My business associates and I often travel around the country and visit Milwaukee 3-4 times a year and make it a point to dine at Vivo's. Besides the obvious fresh seafood and steaks selections, try items from the Tapas menu for appetizers, the Paella or Brazilian Moqueca as the main course and Flan for dessert...its a fantastic combination! Allan (Al) the owner, makes it point to come around and say hello. We take this opportunity to ask him to match up what we are having for dinner with wines. Our dining experience at Vivo's has been excellent every time. Citysearch.com readers correctly give Vivo an overall rating of 9.8 Pros: Great value!, Fresh seafood, Good wine selection Cons: More fireplace tables more

Right on Vivo!!! 3/3/2006

I have been a longtime fan of Vivo, though I had not been there for a while. Recently I went with some friends and was delighted to find that it was even better than last I had been there. We tried a few tapas and split a steak, tuna and a pizza...the food was as good as any place I have been to in Milwaukee, Chicago or LA. Our server was wonderful, very helpful with a great sense of humor and the vibe was fun...it kept us there longer than we planned! Congrats to Vivo for maintaining high standards in cuisine and service and for keeping the atmosphere fun and friendly! Pros: great value, great menu selection, fantastic service more

Are you serious? 11/16/2005

I cant believe Vivo has recieved this high of reviews. It is way too pretentious... the food is really average in taste despite the complicated and worldy names for the dishes. I used to go here for the occasional overpriced drink or decent slice of pizza... but to call it ""hip"" and ""highly reccommended?"" Please. Im now living in NYC which may be cause for my jaded perspective, but really this place is so mediocre, terrible slow and careless service, especially if your young and cute (totally backwards!) Pros: Decent drinks Cons: Service, Mediocre taste, Empty more

Nothing Special 8/21/2005

I read the reviews here and decided to try it. Ordered from the Tapas menu and wasnt impressed. Olive and Cheese plate: 2 white cheeses on a white plate, 3 types of olives (one of which were pimento stuffed used for Martinis) and that was about it. Yucca Fries: different, but really dry. The sauces need more flavor to make up for the fries, or they need to coat them with some spices/evoo/or parmesan to make them interesting. Chorizzo: it was basically a bratwurst, thick skin on and not spicy at all. It was served at room temperature (almost cold). The sauce looked like it was going to be bold, but it was boring, the roasted garlic was bitter not sweet. Cheesecake was good. I expected Vivo to be hopping at 10:00 on a Saturday night, but it was dead. Service was ok, wine good, but I wont return. more

Fantastic! 7/24/2005

We had a great experience at Vivo. The eclectic menu offers something for even the most discriminating diner. We chose the NY Strip Vivo Style (topped with onion/garlic mojo & chimichurri). Our steak was cooked perfectly and the Yucca Fries were a welcome change from the traditional, run of the mill fries. I would recommend their plantains as well. Unlike so many other trendy restaurants, the staff members were very welcoming and friendly. Pros: Ample parking, Great Service, Great Location more

amazing brunch 6/11/2005

I expected good brunch going to Vivo because of their dinner menu which is amazing. But the brunch even exceeded my expectations. I had the crab hash, which has fresh blue crab topped off with over easy eggs, and a siracha hollandaise. It was out of this world, the plate came with fresh pineapple, watermelon and cantelope. Presentation, service, speed, and atmosphere were top notch. Pros: front and back patio more

Such a great place! 5/8/2005

Where to start? A great atmosphere, outstanding food and great service! The ""stone pie"" (pizza) was so good and the panini sandwiches were fabulous too. Our waitress was completely on top of everything - like she read our minds! The ambience is so cool and unlike anything you'll find in Milwaukee. I can't wait to go back! Two thumbs up! Pros: creative food, great service, incredible ambience more

Excellent Dining Experience 3/14/2004

I highly recommend Vivo Urban Grill for cocktailing and dining. As a professional who travels to different cities I was pleased to find such a fabulous restaurant to entertain clients. Not only is the decor and ambience upscale chic, the outstanding food can easily compete with any upscale restaurant in NY or Miami. The service exceeds other big city restaurants I have frequented. The staff was extremely accommodating to my needs to entertain my clients. The lower level was perfect for conversation while upstairs had a hip club atmosphere to it. I definately will be back for more. So many dishes to little time. Thanks for the hospitality. Pros: Excellent Service, Plenty of parking, Reasonable prices more
