I hate to pay top dollar and then get disappointed. That happens here. It's hit or miss. They have wonderful stuff along side of really bad. When I buy fresh bakery goods, I don't expect day old stuff that is halfway stale. That happens here. When I bring it back, they apologize, but it happens again and again. Nobody is seemingly running the place. If you're lucky, and get the fresh baked goods, great, but if you pick the wrong thing, it's just awful. I don't like to play russian roulette when I shop at a bakery. Avoid. more

Disappointing Birthday 5/29/2011

I always have a Brown Derby cake for \r my birthday, and this year I had one from the Viking Bakery--big mistake! Too much chocolate cake, cake stale, little fruit (and the peaches were canned) and, quite expensive. What a disappointment -- I did not even want to eat it. The pieces of strawberry cake we also purchased were very good--too bad we did not purchase that cake. \r If you want a great Brown Derby cake go to the Yellow Cottage bakery in Branchville, NJ -- worth the ride. They are famous for it. Next year I will go back to the Yellow Cottage or go without! The Viking was always a good bakery years ago--not so much now. more
