I am use to taking my car into a dealership for repairs, but with the current economy paying those heavy dealer service prices don?t work into the budget anymore. As a woman who has no experience with cars, I found it to be very challenging to find the right repair shop. I decided to do a search on citysearch for a reliable and affordable repair shop. That?s where I found uptownimports, voted one of the best in my local area. After clicking through their website I was very impressed with their 0% interest and 90 day financing for all available major or minor repairs. I was also taken back by how much this repair shop can actually do, for they can do everything and more then my local car dealership could do. I decided that I should call for an appointment, and was transferred to a very friendly and knowledgeable staff member. Within the next few days all of my repairs were done for a fraction of the price I normally pay. I highly recommend going to Uptown Imports; you will not be disappointed by their knowledgeable staff, competitive prices, and overall quality of work. I found out about Uptown Imports through citysearch and all the "great reviews". But my experience was quite the opposite. Great Customer Service 5/28/2009

Rarely do I get service good enough to take the time to write a review. It just doesn?t happen much anymore. I felt completely at ease with this auto repair shop from the first phone call until I picked up the car. The gentlemen that picked up the phone was friendly, answered all my questions so that I understood the answers and invited me to stop by for a free estimate. As a single woman, I rarely have felt comfortable with car repairs. They have a wide variety of services as well. It was a wonderful experience, and I tell all my friends about it. AMAZING 5/21/2009

These guys were SOOOO helpful. I stopped in yesterday after my car overheated and coolant was running out of my car faster than I could put it in. I just leaving MN and on my way to M, with my car packed, I for my move out of the state. They were extremely accommodating, they fixed my car the same day and were very nice and helpful with everything. When fixing my car they kept me in the loop of everything that was going on and what they were doing, along with why each fix was made. I really appreciate their service and would recommend them to anyone anytime. Pros: So helpful and easy to work with more

The Only Repair Shop I Feel Good Leaving 5/19/2009

I brought my Volvo to Uptown Imports after the dealer charged me an arm and a leg for "standard maintenance", which supposedly included a full vehicle inspection. After picking my car up from the dealer and driving less than 10 miles, the car went nuts and flashed all sorts of crazy warning messages related to the electrical system and voltage. Uptown figured out the problem, repaired it at a reasonable price, and then went above and beyond by creatively (an inexpensively) solving a leaky differential problem that, wait for it...*gasp* the dealer failed to correctly identify. I'm done with the dealer for good and will be loyal to Uptown from now on! Honest, friendly service‎ 3/5/2009

I brought my 318 into the shop to get my cooling system inspected. Uptown Imports clearly described what was included in the inspection. They thoroughly inspected the cooling system and diagnosed the problems. In addition, they recommended other preventive repairs. I will continue to bring my cars into the shop. more

Honest. Friendly. Fast. Bring your car here! 11/10/2008

Friend recommended them and glad I went there... fixed my problem and advised me on the extensive list of things I should watch out for on the P.O.S. I brought in. But NO pressure to fix anything, just advice. Really fast repair, friendly and the receptionist was very sweet. The next day I THought I had a problem with the car, but the tow company they recommend in their closed hours message was helpful - it was just some corrosion on my battery connectors - good people know good people. Too a total lifesaver to include that info in their phone message. A consideration that is overlooked by other auto shops. I am sorry I doubted the repair job for a minute. The POS is running great and I am definitely going back. I did fail to check the bathroom out... next time, I suppose. Thanks guys! Pros: Advice, not pressure; fast service. Thorough. Problem solving and expert repair at a great price 10/27/2008

I had my car towed to Uptown Imports after another auto shop made multiple mistakes. Uptown had to figure out how to get my car started (it had been running fine) and then repair the original problem. They kept me informed every step of the way, returned my calls promptly, and they delivered my car in great shape at a very reasonable price. Their mechanics are trustworthy and down to earth. Most Trustworthy Auto Repair 10/10/2008

I've never had a problem with uptown imports. Not only have I never had a problem, using Uptown Imports is positive experience, one hard to come by when you're getting something fixed. They've been great from the beginning and the reliability of my car has increased since I've started using them. They're very honest and will tell you what needs to be fixed, what should be fixed, and what is on the radar for possible future issues. I would never trust my import to another garage, including a stealership. If you haven't considered Uptown Imports, you've made a huge mistake, unless you like the other guys lying to you and taking your money. Pros: Honesty, Professionalism more

Friendly and Helpful! 9/3/2008

I have always wanted to find a shop that made me feel like I was not being taken advantage of and I believe I have finally found it. The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. The owner is very personable and seems very devoted to his shop. The mechanics did great work to replace my rotors and brakes on a ?03 Maximum and went above and beyond to get the lug nuts off, which need a special adapter. This was a task in itself since another shop I got tires at apparently took my adapter. But they managed to get them off and replaced them with standard lug nuts. Thanks for all of your honest and hard work. I will definitely be back for future repairs. more

Saved The Day 7/6/2008

I recently bought a 1999 Saab 9-5 from an auto dealership in Wayzata. Until recently it both ran and looked great. Then and rattling noise and some shaking by the motor started and gave me great cause for concern. I proceeded to bring it to where I've been bringing my cars for years for repair only to get a response of 'no idea where the rattlings coming from'. Then after some research on the internet I found Uptown Imports who saved the day. After being in the shop a short while-they discovered the serpintene belt in the Saab was the wrong sized belt. Installing the right one corrected the problem and the car sounds and drives better than the day I bought it. I have to apologize for all the calls I made to the shop to find out what was happening with my car, but each time they were more than happy to come to the phone and explain what they were doing, what needed to be done, how long it'll take, and etc. Thanks alot to John and everyone at Uptown Imports. I found a new place to bring my car for repairs from now on. Pros: Great Auto Reair Shop Cons: none more

Honest, Kind Mechanics/Owners 5/3/2008

I have a 1993 Honda Civic that loves Uptown Imports :) My car was broken into and my car's computer was stolen. John and Steve were able to find me a used computer fast. Everyone that I talked to at Uptown seemed so understanding and that they actually cared . I will recommend Uptown Imports, and am sure to be back again. more

Uptown Imports - A Smart Choice 4/22/2008

Ladies (and Gentlemen) - turn your car woes over to the guys who really care! Ran into a pothole (looked more like a crater) at 7am on a wintry day and blew a tire? John will have you back on the road in 2 hours. After parking your car (at a goofy angle, I admit it), you can't get the key out of the ignition? A call to Steve solves that problem pronto - turn the wheel left and right to release the key - who knew? Uptown Imports is ALWAYS there for you when things go wrong at the wrong time. I am so lucky to have found them and you will be too. more

Attention to detail 4/16/2008

Over the years I've brought my cars to different shops for different reasons but I've been consistently impressed with the quality of service at Uptown Imports. First of all the facility is equipped with the latest technology necessary to service modern vehicles. Just as important is Johns attention to detail. He goes to great lengths to make sure the repairs are done to the highest of standards. If there is any question about the quality of a part he will do the research required to make sure that the best parts are used to make a lasting repair. I've learned this by having extensive repair work done on my Audi at a cheaper price only to have it fail prematurely and having to pay to have it done again. The best mechanic I've ever found 2/25/2008

I'd neglected my 30k tune-up on my 05 Corolla for way too long and my car was starting to feel rough. At the time I was living in Los Angeles, about to move to MN. Dishonest Parts Pricing & Ridiculous Fees / Can't Complete Work on Time 2/8/2008

I took my car in to get a newly noticed leak and general stuff looked at. They found $1800 worth to work on--none of it unneeded (except perhaps for a valve cover gasket replacement--it might just need tightening). They wanted $208 for new spark plugs and an air filter - DIY for $20 and 10 minutes! I rejected $800 worth and trusted them with the big one - new cam seals, plus a new fuel filter. Pros: Repairs were in fact needed Cons: Dishonest on pricing, not timely. more
