First and foremost: They serve some of the best coffee, espresso drinks, and chai in the Twin Cities, and as a former coffee-chain employee, I've done my share of taste-testing. I've never been disappointed with their mochas, and usually marvel over the first few sips, having forgotten how wonderful they actually are. (During autumn and winter months, the effect only intensifies. They're truly heartwarming.) What seals the deal at Uncommon Grounds is the atmosphere. The converted Victorian home in the heart of the city radiates a cozy warmth. The hip antique furniture, decorations, and low lighting set an intimate mood perfectly but allows latitude for fun. We've yet to find a better place for people-watching.
Pros: Coffee Drinks, Heart-Warming Chai, Cozy Atmosphere
Cons: Tight Seating, Music Sometimes Loud, (adjusted if asked)
