Uncommon Grounds

I was just recently introduced to Uncommon Grounds through a date. And I have to say it was probably the best way to end the perfect day. We arrived at about 10:30 or so and although it was slightly crowded in the non-smoking level my date and I were able to find a table near the front window. The mood was perfect, dark and candles for lighting. The chi was great, and we found ourselves back there on another date. more

I think this is probably the best place in the twin cities to get coffee. The service is extremely friendly and the chai is the best in the state. Five stars*****. Pros: not crowded Cons: needs more parking more

I loved the ambience that this adorable coffee house provides. Whether one is looking for a quiet conversation place, study area, or a romantic date location, Uncommon Grounds is the place to go. I ordered the large hot chocolate, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the beverages and the service lived up the the awesome ambience. I can not say enough good things about this locale. First and foremost: They serve some of the best coffee, espresso drinks, and chai in the Twin Cities, and as a former coffee-chain employee, I've done my share of taste-testing. I've never been disappointed with their mochas, and usually marvel over the first few sips, having forgotten how wonderful they actually are. (During autumn and winter months, the effect only intensifies. They're truly heartwarming.) What seals the deal at Uncommon Grounds is the atmosphere. The converted Victorian home in the heart of the city radiates a cozy warmth. The hip antique furniture, decorations, and low lighting set an intimate mood perfectly but allows latitude for fun.
