Worst

Went to Tony Wang's once, not as good as it is claimed to be, definately not the best in Lancaster. If you want really good Chinese, go to Hong Kong Garden.

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/23/2012

Was in Lancaster to see Jonah and friends wanted Chinese. Hot Sour was very good. My plate of ma wa shrimp came out dark and steamy and first bite was wonderful. Then I saw a deeply coated cockroach on the plate with everything else. Was told these bugs fly in the back door. We all know these bugs don't fly in the back door. Disgusting! I should have reported them to the department of health but all I could do was get up and leave without making a scene in front of the other diners. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/25/2012

My family ate at this restaurant in June 2012. We found a little roach on our white rice. When we complained and brought this up to the waiter. The restaurant's attitude is ""no big deal""; which left me wondering about their sanitary situation if they think roach with white rice is normal! more

The negative reviews aren't accurate. 1/14/2012

I've been going to Tony Wang's for 16+ years. Tony and his wife and all of his staff have always been polite and helpful I get carryout when I go but I've never seen the place in anything but clean neat order. I've never had poorly made food which I can't say for Hong Kong Garden. I like Hong Kong Garden but I've had General Tso's from there that's been down right gamey. I'm not sure who thinks $4 is an extravagant tip but generally a tip is called a gratuity for a reason. You're showing your gratitude monetarily for service. I don't expect to be thanked for showing my gratitude. I feel the negative comments here are simply fabricated and innacurate. more

Are All These Negatives The Same Person? 4/29/2010

I was wondering about all these negatives because our family has been eating here for over 20 years and not all in one meal so the service is definitely not slow. ;) We've celebrated special occasions and they've always swiftly and cheerfully attended to us. Due to dietary needs, some of our family submits special requests and that's never a problem. Some of us prefer it spicy and hot and they always throw in additional sauces and double check that all is satisfactory. Our experiences have always been the opposite of these negative reviews so it makes me wonder if it isn't the same person hiding under different accounts? The ""spam"" one really supports this premise. Perhaps it's another restaurant trying to undermine them? We were even enjoying a meal there when the food critics that judge and rate the restaurants were there...it did not deter from our service. The title is not self-proclaimed but earned and Tony himself will wait tables and bus so there's certainly alot of humility in the gentleman. Pros: Will cook to your specifications more

Expensive and Disgusting 9/7/2008

Food overpriced...and disgusting! Self proclaimed ""Best Chinese In Lancaster""...only owner could make such a claim. Would not even feed to my dog. more

Good Food, Spotty Service 7/9/2008

The food is good, but the service is inconsistent. Our takeout orders aren't always correct so that's annoying, but I'm always happy with the Chicken and Broccoli in Garlic Sauce. I've heard complaints about their pricing, but I think they're fair considering the portions and the lack of good chinese in the area. Pros: the chicken and broccoli and Lo Mein Cons: better service found at Mickey D's more

worst service and food!!! 12/27/2007

very poor service, ignorant waiters , food coming out in different intrervals .tipped the waiter $4.00 not even a thank you. If this was rated best resturant he tony wang must have been stuffing the ballot box. Dont waste your time .... Pros: tea was warm Cons: service, attitude of the servers more

BEST Chinese in Lancaster!!!!! 6/1/2007

I live across town and make the 20 minute drive to eat at Tonys. Love the food no one makes it like Tony's. As a matter of fact I am ordering out tonight. We recently bought a house and a place on the location was that its 5 minutes away form Tony's. I would highly recommend this place. THe only authentic Chinese food you'll get in Lancaster. And you get real meat and seafood no imitation or mystery meat. Try it out for yourself. Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: Parking more

Chinese par excellence 11/23/2006

On has to wonder where some of these culinary experts come from and if they really get out that much. Tony's is by far the best Chinese around. Have to go to Philly or Baltimore to do as well. Suzanna Foo's Hot & Sour Soup in Philly is incomparable (sort of fusion), but Tony's Orange-Flavored Beef is one-of-a-kind. Table service is friendly, efficient and courteous. Take-out quick and tasty. No other place to go for Chinese in Lancaster. Pros: The greatfood...Not the rubber stamp Chinese fast food, the real thing. Cons: Pareking can be a chore. more

Don't waste your time or money 1/4/2005

New to the area I decided to try out Tony Wang's. I ordered take-out house special fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and crab rangoons and it was the worst meal I have every had in any chinese food restaurant. The fried rice was more like scrambled eggs with rice and a weird mystery meat my dog was even hesitant to eat. The crab rangoons were favorless, dry, and practically empty. The sweet and sour pork I can't even begin to dissect as it didn't taste like any pork I have ever eaten. All in all a bad experience. I pray Lancaster has better to offer. more

Best Around 11/22/2002

No visit to Lancaster is complete without a trip to Tony Wang's. They have some of the tastiest food around, Chinese or otherwise. The Hot and Sour Soup is the best I've had anywhere. Everything is fresh and delicious. Seating can be limited on the weekends, but with outlet shopping just across the street, there are plenty of ways to pass the time. Believe me, IF there is a wait, it's more than worth it. more

Don't know what the fuss is about. 11/13/2002

We've eaten here twice and don't understand what all the fuss is about. We were not impressed -- there are better Chinese restaurants in this town. more
