Fabulous!! 4/9/2010

Went without hearing a word about the place and we are so glad! Everything was absolutely fresh and beautiful, the tempura was so light and crisp, the chicken was like butter, the gyoza to die for. Fast, friendly service, good prices. We'll be back again and again! Pros: super fresh, attractive presentation more

Best Sushi I,ve had in Nashville 2/28/2009

Absolutely wonderful. My sister and I went tonight and had a ton of sushi, Yellowtail sashimi, No name special roll, Caterpillar roll, Crunch Munch, Fashion roll, Austin roll, and the squid salad, and i can't say enough about this place. The atmophere was quiet and but inviting. We sat at the bar and both the chefs were very polite and responsive, with a smile. Everything was spectacular, very fresh and made to perfection. We also did a sake bomber which the waitress helped us with, also the chefs were very helpful with suggestions when we were not sure what to get next. I will say no matter where you live it's worth the drive to bellevue Pros: Greta food, service, ambiance Cons: none at this time more

Wonderful sushi, wonderful service. Tokyo Japanese Cuisine is our favorite Japanese restaurant in town! 1/26/2009

Tokyo Japanese Cuisine is our favorite place to eat. The service is always top of the line and everyone greets you and is happy to see you. Customer service is a lost art these days. Everyone here is so friendly and nice- it makes you want to keep going back. And the food is excellent. Coming from California where sushi and Japanese restaurants abound, this is a trained pallet's compliment. The selection is also impressive. The sushi is always freshly and beautifully prepared. The bento boxes are delicious and the tempura is perfect. You won't be disappointed here. Also, this place can seat two to 20 or more! Its great for a quiet night out with your husband or wife, date, whatever- or its perfect for larger parties and children. Five Stars for sure. Thanks, Tokyo! Pros: Delicious, Friendly, Convenient, Affordable more

Best sushi in Nashville! 1/22/2009

Trust me. It is the best sushi in Nashville! I went a lot of sushi places around my town and now I know where to go without hesitating which restaurant I should go for dinner. TOKYO!! During the Christmas season I had special rolls, which were Christmas roll and Santa roll. It was AMAZING!! I really loved it. I bet their fish is very fresh since it melted in my mouth when I had a bite. Hmm~ oh and now one of my favorites is crunch munch roll. You should definitely try one if you get a chance. I heard they are making more special rolls since everyone liked it. I'm so excited. Everything that I experienced there was really good like their food, services, atmosphere, and even music. The restaurant is very clean and nice. It looks like little bit of antic style but it was good enough to enjoy my food and be relax at the same time . I strongly recommend this restaurant to people who want to taste fresh sushi, awesome rolls, and want to enjoy their food in a good condition~ Pros: Amazing Food and services more

Very good food, very poor math skills 10/16/2008

I've eaten at Tokyo several times but unfortunately my most recent visit will be my last. When my wife, daughter, and friend visited for lunch we ended up getting charged double because our waitress made a mistake. I ordered the 5-sushi lunch special (five pieces of sushi and two rolls for $12.99) and our waitress said ""Ok, just write down what you want on the ticket and I'll give it to the chef."" I did, and out came my sushi along with my wife and friend's orders. I noticed that there were more than five pieces -- including two which none of us ordered -- but when I mentioned that to the waitress she said, ""yes, this is what you ordered."" Pros: Fantastic sushi Cons: Math more

Some of the best sushi in Nashville 10/14/2008

The sushi at Tokyo Japanese Cuisine steals the show. The chefs are fun and informative and prepare some of the most unique and decadent dishes I have ever had. I recommend the super crunch roll but everything I have tried is great. The regular Japanese and Korean dishes, however, are sub-par. They're served in trendy dishes and prepared very neatly, but the taste has something left to be desired. The service is great and I wish they had better entrees because it would add to the overall quality of the restaurant. The inside is clean but not very fancy. I wouldn't recommend going to Tokyo Japanese Cuisine for a date night or if your looking to go somewhere for a nice dinner, but if you are craving just sushi, you cannot beat it. Pros: Sushi is fantastic Cons: Regular Japanese and Korean dishes are not recommended at all more

Best sushi in town! 9/1/2008

I've been to every sushi place in Nashville, Brentwood, Cool Springs, etc. No other place has this wide of a variety of sushi as Tokyo in Bellevue. I go to this place as often as I can. Residents of Bellevue are too lucky to have this place close by! Pros: high-quality food and great service more

Not bad, but not the best sushi in nashville 8/19/2008

After reading the reviews, we decided to visit this restaurant for my birthday at lunchtime. We were promptly seated at a dirty table and each ordered the lunch special. The miso soup was delicious, but we did not receive chopsticks or silverware for our salad and sat there for 5 minutes before we decided to grab them off of the nearest table. Our tea glasses were never refilled, even though the restaurant was empty and we had nearly finished our drinks before our sushi arrived. The spicy tuna and california rolls were good, but the crunchy shrimp roll had very little shrimp or flavor. My friend asked the server if there was something special they could do for my birthday and she replied ""we don't do that."" When we received our check, the server said ""come back at dinner, it's better."" Hopefully better than lunch! I certainly did not end up feeling special on my birthday at this restaurant. Pros: great miso soup, affordable Cons: bad service, sub par sushi more

Amazing! I eat here at least twice a week! 5/28/2008

This place is fantastic. I've eaten at several different sushi restaurants around the Nashville area and Tokyo, by far, is my favorite! I've had at least over half the rolls on their menu and love them all. Anyone who gives this place less than 4 stars apparently has no taste buds! more

Absolute Best Sushi 5/25/2008

I have been to several different Japanese / sushi restaurants in Nashville and surrounding areas, and this place has the best sushi I have ever had. The super crunch roll is my favorite and all of their other food is great as well. I went here on my birthday last year and loved it. This is my favorite restaurant, hands down. more

i love this place!!! 4/27/2008

i went to tokyo last weekend with my family cause we had a birthday to celebrate. tokyo is a great place to enjoy with family and friends. they have great sushi and very friendly services. price is a lot cheaper than any other sushi restaurant in downtown area. you will be satisfied. Pros: great sushi, friendly service more

Ok 3/27/2008

Has a neighborhood feeling to it, with a local crowd of regulars. The suchi is average tasting, but for people in Bellevue it is convenient. The water there always tastes bad and should be filtered. Pros: Neighborhood feel more

Awesome sushi, great service 3/3/2008

The food was definitely above average. It was pretty busy with only a few waitresses, so we didn't get as much attention, but all the servers were nice and got the job done. The traditional japanese decor added a nice touch to the atmosphere, and the ice-cream tempura dessert was excellent! more

Good food with terrible service in smelly restaurant 2/27/2008

To avoid bad experience of its terrible service and washing entire clothes after coming home, I strongly recommend to have your order to go. We tried their Korean spicy noodle dish, and it was quite tasty. Meanwhile the service from their waitress was very unpleasant. We waited quite a while until we order(actually we got up and looked for our waitress). Then one of dishes that we ordered came out after rest of us finished our food. Obviously the waitress made a mistake when she placed our order, she didn't even bother to offer any explanation or an apology. Pros: Tasty food Cons: Bad service and a place with funky smell more

inconsistant service but consistantly great sushi 11/15/2007

Though the service is often patchy and my orders are often incomplete or wrong, the sushi is undeniably fresh and exciting. Stick to the sushi list, a few of the noodle dishes are quite tasty, but the sushi is the real appeal to this restaurant. Also don't forget to bring two dollars to feed the tank of pirana (preferably after you've eaten, don't lose that appetite) Pros: unbeatable sushi Cons: menu other than the sushi more
