Classic Texas BBQ with a Tangy Twist 10/17/2010

Like most other Texas BBQ joints this place is old fashioned, decked out in Texas artifacts, and gives you a homey backyard kind of a feel. From the dance floor, to the live entertainment, the kids playground, and the horseshoes this is the exact kind of place to not only eat dinner but have an entire night out. From mouthwatering brisket, turkey, sausage, and ribs they have also recently added on a Carolina BBQ favorite pulled pork. Everything is pit smoked for hours giving you a nice smokey flavor, tender meat, and very moist BBQ that can stand alone without any sauce. I am one of those that believe that if you put sauce on BBQ you are destroying it. The sweet, tangy, and well balanced sauce made by Tin Roof though definitely elevates the experience in every sense. I can't even find the words to describe that sauce. It is just plain good. After you pick your meat, sandwich or my favorite the stuffed potato loaded up with sour cream, cheese, chives, chopped brisket, and of course a load of their sauce, you can move on to pick from among about a dozen different mouthwatering sides from mashed potatoes, to greens, mac n' cheese and much more. My favorite side is the fried to order Russet potato french fries. The fries are handmade come out of the oil hot and because they are Russets with a higher sugar content come out a beautiful brown color with a robust taste. When you walk in you will want to scream ""Howdy."" I think I hear the dinner bell ringing. more

This is very different than your average restaurant. All self serve, get a rtray and order your food of a blackboard. Very helpfull staff.\r It was a great night with kareoke, great playground for the kids and a very relaxed atmosphere. The ribs were great and the sides were bar far the best we've had a dozen's of BBq joints.\r This is a very laid back place, where you get your beers in a iced bucket. A must place to bring out of towners to.\r Will be back soon more

Bring the whole family! 3/7/2010

Great ribs, brisket, chopped beef. Sides are home-made fresh every day, and are delicious! A true family-friendly atmosphere with a playground in full view of dining area, firepit for chilly evenings, live music (at an appropriate volume!), plenty of seating, and a relaxed ambiance. You will not feel like you have to eat-and-go, so plan to spend an entire evening relaxing with good food and good people. Our entire family totally enjoyed our experience there! Pros: owners, food, atmosphere more

Best in Texas 4/28/2009

Forget the Koi Fish Pond, the Food Here is MY ZEN 9/2/2008

It represents some of the greatest things we have as Texans, my friends. Locally owned, and superior to bland corporate food, the BBQ is superb stuff. Although it isn't a prominent feature on the menu, their 2x2 (2 patty x 2 cheese) burger executed a coup on a certain ""royal"" moniker'd burger joint out by the SW freeway that used to be the cornerstone of my day. I skip lunch @ work near there just to pick up a burger here on my way home. THOSE INCREDIBLE ONION RINGS. How do they stay crispy till the next morning? Further, how do I still crave them by then? No matter. Tin Roof B-B-Q has freed the populace of the tyranny and oppression of multinational, overpreserved, microwave slop ""products"". We deserve better, and Tin Roof B-B-Q gives it to us. This place tethers me to my sanity; a reward for the hard work/suicidal at times commute I face 5 days a week. Pros: Excellent food, I drive slower so I can get to my burger safely, so you are safer too. Cons: Summer nights can be too humid for the patio (eat inside or get it to go.) more

Amazing B-B-Q 3/31/2008

The B-B-Q at this restaurant is Addicting. I am 8 months pregnant and Have wanted Tin Roof through out my pregnancy. I use to live about 10 miles from Tin Roof but I moved to the woodlands which is about 30-45 min away, but I still get into my car and drive out there for there Loaded baked potato and there stuffed Peppers. There barbecue sauce is Perfectly spiced. Considering how high gas prices are right now and the simple fact that I will drive all the way out there for there food should be enough said...I would drive an hour for Lunch at this place. Pros: Everything is wonderful more

Best BBQ this side of Heaven 11/14/2007

Great BBQ. The Brisket, Chicken, & Pork Loin we ordered was tender and done to perfection. Sauce is not too sweet, not too spicy - and thick enough to coat what ever you put it on. And my filet steak would ""melt in your mouth!"". Met the owners and they were gracious and caring - making sure that everyone had everything they needed, that the food was to your satisfaction - in otherwords making sure me and mine was totally pleased with everything. I have traveled all over the USA and bar none - this is the best place for BBQ. Don't take my word for it - You have to come see for yourself.!\r PROS: Live Music on Fri & Sat. Karoke on Thursday\r Place for kids to run and play, Horseshoe pits, Large open deck and a fireplace for those chilly Texas evenings. Pros: Live Music Fri & Sat, Karoke Thurs. Fireplace on a chilly Texas night Cons: Can't think of even one. more

Best BBQ Restaurant! 9/20/2007

Tin Roof BBQ has the best food I have ever eaten, and I am EXTREMELY picky. There is something here for everyone. All of the food and desserts are homemade and cooked fresh everyday! The Chicken, Ribs, Pork Loin, Brisket are GREAT and I almost forgot try the Turkey, it?s SO good. This place has the most sides I have ever seen in a restaurant, more than Luby's. And they are ALL so yummy! And the sauce is to die for. I always buy jars of it and give them out as gifts at Christmas! My neighbors love me. And, if you aren't in the mood for BBQ try their steaks, better than what you will get from the places on the freeway. Or they have great salads, baked potatoes, salmon, and burgers (did I mention the 1.5 lb burger! - something to share). I could go on and on about the food, it really is so great. But what makes the place so special are the owners and staff. They know me by my First name! They are such great warm hearted people, and always have a smile on their face. Once you walk in you really feel welcomed and at home. Tin Roof is really a great place to bring kids to. They have a kiddie play area and picnic tables just for them. My kids love this place; we had their bday party here. They play, while we listen to the Live Bands every weekend and throw horseshoes. Also, there is karaoke on Thursdays, its fun. I could go on and on about how much I love this place. Just tell Ronnie that you want a, ?Wildcat, for a Wild Lady!!!? He will fix you up! Good Food, Good People, you have to try! Pros: Food, Ronnie and Nancy, Texan Atmosphere Cons: nothing more

Awesome Bar-b-que! The best in Houston! A must try! 9/14/2007

Tin Roof has the best bar-b-que in Houston! You get tons of food and it's all very delicious! The bar-b-que is tender and the sauce is wonderful!!! The chicken is favorful and cooked just right. The potatoes are huge and the vegetable servings are all wonderful! You have to try the broccoli and rice casserole and the homemade macaroni and cheese. Everything is homemade and truely outstanding! This restaurant is decorated like Texas and has live music on some evenings. It's a must try; you won't be disappointed! more

Best on the North Side 11/3/2006

Good selection and great prices. Great atmosphere outside. Good for families. Be prepared to have leftovers. more

Best BBQ EVER!!! 10/30/2006

OH MY GOSH! The best thing about this place is the sauce! Not to sweet, not to strong, just absolutely perfect! It only gets better when it's heated. You could seriously drink it! All you need is the sauce! And, the chicken melts in your mouth. The stuffed tators are excellent! Onion rings, oh, yes, yummy!!! I would go out of my way to go here, thankfully, it's not out of my way, and it's worth writing home to mom about. Get there as fast as you can!!! Pros: wheelchair accessable, Live Music, the SAUCE Cons: n/a more

Freakin' Awesome FOOD!!! 10/15/2006

Obviously people that are not from Texas shouldn't be writing reviews about Texas BBQ!!! This place has great BBQ and I would know since I have relatives in the BBQ business as well! They just live far from here, so if I have to pick and chose, and when it comes to where to eat BBQ around Humble and Atascosita...there's no competition. I heard that Spring Creek is moving to the area soon...wew, wew...haha...I just moved from Dallas, trust me, you'll be back at Tin Roof! And if you have kids or just really like chicken, Tin Roof has the BEST CHICKEN STRIPS EVER!!! Ok, I guess I'm done. By the way, Ron and Nancy are the salt of the earth...and their restaurant is just another example of great people doing great business. :) They have mine. Pros: Quality, clean, friendly more

BBQ sauce way too runny... 10/7/2005

But so is almost every other BBQ place in Texas.. I thought Texans were s'posed to be good at all this stuff? Anyways, it's a decent place, I just wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. Staff was friendly enough. Oh, their fries were not crispy, but hey, maybe people like soggy fries.. more

Family Gathering 7/13/2004

Hello from China, Yes, Chengdu, China, Tin/Roof exceeds my desires in BBQ! Taste... what taste...smell... what smell.... I often tell my wife ""if the Tin/Roof could bottle the smell as perfume, I buy her a bottle for Christmas "". When we have family gatherings/School functions ( wife's a teacher) Tin/Roof provides the BBQ. If I'm hungry for a steak, I request the biggest steak, then smile and ask for a sample (you know...meat while I wait on the main meal). They laugh, cut me a piece of meat...free. Yes, My family laughs at me. However, they ENJOY visiting Tin/Roof, my oldest daughter enjoys dancing to the music, visiting with friends&writing on tables.....can't write on tables at MO's..... another thing. The BBQ is cooked daily... not reheated in a microwave.... now I'm hungry for Tin/Roof .... But,I'm in Chengdu,/China. Have you ever tried to find BBQ in China???? Thanks Bobby Sonnier Pros: Good parking, Good Food, qty..of food Cons: , not open on Sunday's more
