My wife and I had dinner here on Sunday evening, June 24, 2007 as we were staying at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel, in which the restaurant is located. In short, we just loved it. The lighting is subdued and the restaurant's decor is a combination of traditional (its been there since 1953) and modern, which really works. Our server, Frank, was understated and impeccable. Cocktails are huge and cold and promptly served. Appetizers are brought to the table in a cart from which selections are made. The shrimp were colossal and firm, with a great tangy sauce. Our Caesar salads were made tableside. My filet mignon was perfectly cooked rare with an excellent twice baked potato and steamed asparagus. My wife had the scampi which were delicious. The desserts did not seem to impress us, so we passed. The prices are very reasonable for food of this quality, substantially less than a commercial steak house like Ruth's Chris.\r
The atmosphere was very romantic - we had a great corner booth. We would definitely return next time we visit St. Louis.
Pros: romantic atmosphere, service, great steaks
