Best

This was our third trip to OLB. The first two were horrendous due to the service, but things seem to have changes. Our server was very friendly, prompt, and took great care of us....

Worst

My husband and I tried Old Blinking Light twice. It has a very interesting menu with a sort of Tex-Mex/Southwestern flair on every item. The first time we thought the food was p...

Great atmosphere 8/9/2011

I took my girlfriend here for our 1st Valentines together. I couldn't of asked for a better place. The food was outstanding and full of flavor! The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic with the fire all around. Noise level where very quite, the bar looked fun. Overall I would stonglly recommend this resurant for any occasion. I don't see it working well with younger children. more

Great 8/4/2011

Great menu with a variety of unique preparations. Great atmosphere. But overall, it was a great place to eat and enjoy the company. more

Excellent 8/2/2011

First of all the service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing and did not try and push us out the door even though we lingered enjoying the summer evening. The food was very good (ribs were excellent and love the duck fat fried potatoes.) Did see they have a great happy hour menu that we are planning on going back for. Definitely planning on going back again. I think this place had some problems when they first opened but right now I would recommend them to anyone looking for an enjoyable evening out. more

Great 7/27/2011

The Old Blinking Light Is a hip, trendy, cozy, comfortable dining emporium for guests of all ages. The atmosphere pulsates with a positive attitude. The food delivers with passionate flavors assembled into colorful dishes that are not disguised by flamboyance. Also, they have an attractive wine list both, in quality and price. Service is refreshingly polished and refined. In an area that is developing to be bound by chain restaurants and hopefully not gagged by chain restaurants, the OBL has the potential to be one of Denver's really great independent restaurants. It can hold its own anywhere. more

So yummy! 7/25/2011

One of the best secrets in south denver. So yummy! Love the decor and firepit. Try the duck salad or fried avocado. Their new chef has really turned this place around. more

Food was excellent 7/22/2011

Thoroughly impressed. Food was excellent. One of those hard to find restaurants that has a quality of a food you would expect to pay $50 or more per person but is only $15. Best enchiladas in Denver, I am from AZ and know my mexican food, their red sauce is amazing, you can tell the make it themselves with actual peppers. Bacon wrapped buffalo meat loaf was excellent. Overall great food, great selection, and I will be going back regularly. more

My favorite place 7/20/2011

The OBL is one of my favorite places to eat. The beef enchiladas are excellent. They are even better with a fried egg. The margaritas are great. And if you are in the mood for some sweets, the OBL sundae is awsome. Two scoops of ice cream on top of fried banana bread. What a treat. more

decent 7/18/2011

This is a decent place to eat in the Ranch. Parents, look up the word baby sitter, google it. There is a Red Robin down the street if you are compelled to drag your toddlers to dinner, don't bring them here. Please. more

The relaxed feel 7/14/2011

we enjoyed the relaxed feel. It was too cold tosit outside, but the view of the fire pit is always fun. The Nat's salad was unique and tasty! more

Service was immaculate 7/7/2011

Went back a second time. Food was incredible. Service was immaculate. Glad I gave these guys a second chance. more

Cant say enuogh!!!! 7/6/2011

this is one of the only restaurants outside of cherry creek or downtown denver that stands above the rest of the chains and commercial grade cooks . I love the happy hour seven days a week! and the chef always comes to the table and asks if we want to be offered something off the menu. This is what I think all chefs could do, and learn from. The handmade pasta brings me back to sitting in my moms kitchen as a child. I hope you all get in and say hi to chef kyle. and his sous chef leslie makes the best deserts! can't say enough!!!! more

Definitely going back 6/30/2011

Had dinner there on Friday night. OMG what a fun great place to hang out and have dinner. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The hostess was really friendly and we waited only a few minutes for a great booth. The waitress Annie was right there to take our Drink order and helped us suggest appetizers and dinner. I have the OBL Cosmo, which was incredible. Started with the Tuna Tartare which was out of this world delicious. Also the homemade salsa was to die for. I order the potato crusted Scallops and my husband had their baby back ribs. They were the amazing. They were fall off the bone good. The chef came over and asks us how dinner was and he was so nice. Definitely going back to this restaurant often. more

Kudos! 6/28/2011

Had a filet mignon steak at OBL on a Friday night, then had a steak in San Francisco at a highly rated restaurant there and I have to say I have NEVER had a filet this delicious. Kudos to the chef at OBL!! more

Great food 6/20/2011

Just ate at OBL for the first time tonight. Great food, the service was spot on (Matt is a great server), and the atmosphere was laid back. We saw all ages enjoying OBL; families, singles, friends, first dates and married couples. If OBL were in Larimer, Tamayo would have serious competition. more

Nicest staff 6/15/2011

Never had such a fun bar experience! Best margaritas! I am going to eat there whenever I can. Nicest staff. Including the manager Lance, really accommodating group. Made me feel at home. Fried avocado! more

Had a great time 6/9/2011

Service was good. The outdoor patio with firepit is great. more

Great menu 6/1/2011

I had a really nice meal at Old Blinking Light in Town Center Highlands Ranch Saturday Night. I have eaten there three times now and not had the same thing twice. That is rare for me. The Scottish Salmon with Brussels sprouts and mustard sauce was very good. I also recommend the Massa encrusted scallops in lemon broth. Unfortunately the wilted beet greens were a little gritty and not cleaned sufficiently. That was an execution issue that should be corrected but the dish is a winner. For an appetizer, think about having the flash fried avocado with Mexican cream or fire-roasted jalape?o with cheese grits. more

Great ambience & prices 5/26/2011

Good food, friendly service and in the warmer weather the patio is a great place to watch the world go by. Not fancy and not 'home cooking' but still their smaller plates are great for what they are meant to be. more

Excellent Service! 5/18/2011

I ate here the night before Thanksgiving with family who were in from out of town. The restaurant has a modern feel, but also a sense of coziness (for example, fires burning both inside and out on a very chilly night makes for a comfy feel). As it was rather late by the time we ordered, we did not order any appetizers. The wine selection was above average, both for bottles and glasses. I drank a glass of the house Pinot Grigio, followed by a glass of Cabernet with my dinner. Speaking of which, there were several entrees that looked and tasted good. I ordered the Poblano Relleno with Risotto, Spanish Paprika, and Ratatouille with Tomato Buerre Blanc. A delicious meal, though I thought the Relleno could have used a bit more of a kick (however, others at the table thought it was either just right, or a bit spicy, so take my observation with a grain of salt). The service was excellent all around. The restaurant is a bit pricier than I expected, though not in the exhorbitant range (if you are drinking, be prepared to pay). Overall, a good time was had by all! more

WOW, all I can say is wow. 5/12/2011

Top to bottom this place is dynamite; Excellent thoughtful service; full, well prepared menu and dishes; great post modern atmosphere. This is located in the Highlands Ranch Town Center near the Tattered Book Cover. I have driven by this place for the past few years and never made it in. Any restaurant that has made it two years is saying something good for highlands ranch, especially a non chain. The atmosphere is a nice blend of industrial architecture, interesting lighting, and flame elements to add ambiance. Very soothing and strangely warm. They have a patio with a huge fire pit and ample sarape's (Mexican blankey) to battle the evening chill. Additionally they have a nice big bar and replete with comfy lounge and social big table to mingle at. All of this sounds like a nice romantic place or a trendy yet welcoming restaurant which it is. The food is a nice modern new Mexican with plenty of creativity and flavor. The bread they serve come with a Poblano butter which is sooooo good. We tried the flash fried avocado with pico de gallo and that was sooo tasty and neuvo mexicano, a superbly done appetizer. My wife had the ceviche tacos which she made disappear in no time flat. i had the Buffalo burger because I am lame sometimes but it was the best burger I have had in Denver easily, nothing comes close. My father had the Texas chili and a spinach salad. My son who was being a royal stinker didn't want anything from the kids menu full of favorites so the waiter asked him what he wanted which was a burrito, the waiter then had the burrito specially made by the culinary master in the kitchen. Our waiter had mind reading skills and never left us feeling anything other than well taken care of. We havent had a waiter of his caliber in years. The family left stuffed, full of praise, and planning our next trip back to the Old Blinking light. South Denver Finally has a dining reason worth driving to! more
