The New Yorker restaurant is an institution in Salt Lake City and for good reason! The menu changes seasonally, using the best ingredients available.Chef Pliler travels the count...

January 7th, 2007. Having enjoyed dining at The New Yorker over the years, it is disappointing to see a noticeable decline in ambiance, service and food during the past year. My m...

The New Yorker is over rated. I think this is a product of the Salt Lake restaurant market which is severely lacking for a population this size. The emphasis in Salt Lake is on the family style dining, so it doesn't take a lot to be one of the ""better"" restaurants here. Pros: good food, good drinks Cons: parking, membership, expensive more

Spencers 11/27/2002

Exellent service, wine list and cigar selection. You cannot go wrong with the rib eye. Best tasting cut in town more

Pure Class 11/14/2002

Although romantically elegant, it is best for business dinners and lunches. Reservations are strongly recommended. Pros: service, location, food Cons: parking, reservations necessar more

very good but excruciatingly slow 10/2/2002

always reliably good food and a wonderful atmosphere but the sevice is so slow, I'm ready to go before the appetizers come. Pros: fresh food, varied menu, ambience Cons: slow wait staff, slow food more

In a league of it's own 8/29/2002

When dining The New Yorker you will soon realize what sophisticated cuisine is all about, a la the San Francisco, New Orleans and New York experience. There are maybe 3 or 4 restaurants in Utah that I consider in this league, and The New Yorker is one of them. However, after dining here a number of times, I've learned to choose from the more imaginative specials of the day than sticking to the regular menu. They're just more elaborate, tasteful... The New Yorker has both a terrific domestic wine selection as well as imported. Not as good as Metropolitan's but still very nice. Pros: wine list, pleasant ambience, the specials Cons: a bit pricey for SLC more

Really the best steak 8/29/2002

The New Yorker serves Certified Angus Beef Prime which is the cream of the cream of steak. There is no restaurant in Salt Lake that serves a better steak. It is a tremendous value and the chef is unequalled in his presentation. more

Classic Restaurant 8/22/2002

Maybe a little over-rateted, but it IS a great restaurant. Wonderful service, and when the service is bad for whatever reason, they do something to correct the problem. The New Yorker seems to know that they're really in the service business, and they work exceptionally hard to preserve that. And, the food is usually great too. Pros: SERVICE, Location, Valet Service Cons: Some entrees pricey more

It's not all that 8/5/2002

I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience at the New Yorker during the Olympics. I've had a membership for two years and won't be renewing. The food was cooked improperly, the waiter had attitude, and I had to physically get up and find the server three times because we were neglected for so long. There are many, many classy restaurants in SLC, and this isn't one of them. more

Forget About It 8/4/2002

I really enjoyed the food. The flavors and selection were very good. The service was less than desirable. Employees discussing how people tip and bartenders arguing with servers. Service was well below expectations. Pros: Flavorful Food Cons: Ignorant Staff more

The best of the best. 7/30/2002

Wow. What an experience. The food? Excellant. The service? Even better. This place literally knocked my socks off! This my favorite restaurant of all time. You haven't tried great dining till you have tried this place. more

Beautiful, upscale dining 5/16/2002

The New Yorker is a private club, but it doesn't have a stodgy clubby feel that you might expect from a below-ground restaurant. The bar area is a wonderful, upscale place to enjoy after-work cocktails. The restaurant is a great spot to people-watch, dine on fine food or share a romantic meal. We once enjoyed a fabulous private party in the back room--service is top notch. Pros: Upscale dining Cons: Parking, Membership required more
