Great Tour! 3/23/2005

The tour was great, we got to go into all the shuls on the Lower East Side that are absolutely beautiful, even more so than many of the synagogues I have seen in Easter Europe. The guide really knew her stuff, and I was so surprised with many of the facts that I learned. If you want to do a tour of the Lower East Side, I would definitely say to do this one, just pick a day with nice weather. more

Extremely Enthusiastic Guide 3/23/2005

We walked around the Loewr East Side, luckily it was a beautiful day, and we visited all the synagogues and sights. The Bialystoker shul took my breath away and all the art that was present was brought to life through the stories of our guide, Laurie, who was extremely knowledgable and just expressed such great love for this tour and the history it encompasses. We learned marvelous things about astrology and Judaism, I would totally recommend it. more

FantasticOn recent tour 3/22/2005

On a recent tour with the lower east side conservancy I was truly surprised and fascinated by the tour guides description and explanation of this historical neighborhood. As a native New Yorker who has visited the east side countless times I was not fully aware of how this area was a home or a ""stopover"" for so many people of different backgrounds and cultures. The history of the immigrant Jews upon their arrival on our shores and there building a community, businesses and the religious institutions that were created is just remarkable.I recommend that anyone interested in some NY history take this most interesting and informative tour. more
