Best

Love it. The burgers were incredible and the wings are to die for. One of the best taverns I've ever been too.

Best Gyro in town! 2/21/2008

The Cooler is a great place to watch a game, grab lunch or dinner, or meet up with friends for a drink. Tons of plasma tv's, pool tables and a great juke box. Classic building with and always clean. All of the local sports memorabilia is great. Food is outstanding. Bartenders and servers are quick to help. Mountain climber hits at least once a month. Nothing bad to say. I miss me some Cooler. Pros: Food, drinks, tv's, atmosphere & service. Cons: It's in Eugene and I'm in Milwaukee more

Best Sports Bar, especially gameday - Great for those in and out of college 2/20/2008

I've been going to The Cooler for several years and I can say that it only gets better as each year passes. It's known mainly as a sports bar, but it really is a different place depending on the day or even the time of day. As a sports bar you won't find better. There really isn't a bad seat in the place. With well over 10 large TV's positioned around the entire bar you'll always have a great view. If by chance the biggest game of the day is not on a TV by your table or one of the plush couches lining the wall, no worries, it will most likely be playing on the 8 to 10 foot TV that drops from the ceiling. This TV is viewable from every seat other than the toilet. On Gamedays The Cooler is busy by 7 am for a good reason. Duck fans congregate for breakfast and drinks that are served by the tremendous staff. Whether there are 10 patrons in the bar or several hundred I've never noticed a change in service. You rarely have to wait for drink. After the game the majority of the fans at Autzen show up to celebrate or drink to next weeks game. Tables, a portbale bar, and BBQ s are set up outiside to those who rather be outdoors. Visiting team fans are also always welcome, and often show up as word has spread throughout the PAC-10 about The Cooler's gameday festivities. However, this place is not just a sportsbar. In the off season Friday and Saturday nights have become one of the campus hotspots, featuring live music, DJ's, dancing, or just pool and plenty of drinks. If your out of college and pushing your 30's or 40's, this place is still for you. There is always a diverse crowd with one thing in common, drinks and a great time. Bottom line: Service is Great, Food is Great, Atmosphere is all about fun and drinks no matter what the day or customer age, and on gameday there is no comparison.\r \r Pros: Gameday, great crowd, excellent service, environment changes to fit the moment Cons: It's in Eugene and I live in Portland more

The Cooler is the coolest! 2/20/2008

Ok, I'm not much for bars in the first place but this has got to be one of the coolest places in Eugene. From the outside it sort of looks like an airplane hanger or something which just adds to the character of the place. It is a sports bar, but it's not at the same time...I mean usually, there are sports on the TVs (there are like twelve HD Bigscreens plus a HUGE projection screen that is just awesome) but there are other things going on there too, like lottery machines if you like to play your luck. The food is great...the single time I ever had a problem with it, the staff took care of it right away and didn't make me feel like I was an idiot when they did (like some places in this town will). My favorite thing at the Cooler though is not the food, or the drinks, or the beautiful ladies and cool guys that hang out and work there, but it's when they have live music. When there is a band playing the bar uses some sort of fold-down-from-the-wall stage so the band is on this platform like five feet in the air...it's very roadhouse, and very cool!! That's it...I can't stand it anymore, I'm going there right now for a cold one and a bite to eat...see you there! Pros: You feel like family when you are there. Cons: Bathrooms aren't big enough (I owe that to the beer though) more

Best place to watch Duck sports! 2/19/2008

The hot wings are great and the bartenders are better! Huge TV's and a great menu make it an easy place to enjoy. The food has gotten better too over the last couple years...it's the old Cooler but even better. Pros: great for sports and near Autzen Cons: it's a sports bar more

Great sportsbar 2/19/2008

Good lord, they have ""a ton"" of plasma TV's. 10? 12? I dunno. There's also a huge screen with a projector that must be 16 or 17 feet.\r \r Great bar food and solid drinks with friendly attentive staff. Don't know what b00pi3flak3s's problem below is/was. Doubt he's ever actually been there, because the cooler doesn't have a ""dj"", nor have they ever (I've been going there regularly for the past 15 years).\r \r The Cooler is a ""must"" on gamedays for pregame or after the game. They fence off the parking lot and pour beer from a refridgerated trailor. Early in the season they'll have a grill setup outside as well. Great spot for March Madness as well. The staff is very proactive about getting a particular game on a TV near you if you request it. Given the number of TV's they have, there really isn't a bad seat in the house.\r \r The couches they have are fun to sink in to and have a drink at. There are 3 pool tables, and I believe they have all lottery games.\r \r For the 2007/2008 football and basketball season, they've been broadcasting a live radio show from there every Tuesday. Fun to go hang out, grab a drink, and watch the coaches talk about the games from the previous weekend. The coaches usually bring a couple of players as well. Joe Giansante comes up with some creative games on the breaks for the fans, and has UofO cheerleaders there to pass out the prizes.\r \r All in all, the Cooler has been an institution in Eugene since 1967(?). Highly recommended. Pros: Great drinks, good food, attentive staff, TONS of plasma TV's Cons: Restrooms are a bit dated, but aren't by any means bad more

The sportsbar and college hangout near Autzen Stadium 8/5/2007

We had some time to waste and decided to have a bite to eat. We were right down the street and a local recommended the Cooler. It looks like a barn on the outside; had us guessing. The place was great though. The food was actually the best bar food I've had since I took a trip down to New Orleans back in the 80's. If your around this place check it out. It has alot of locals and I think I know why. Cold drinks and great food. The place also has a big screen that must be over 20 feet. Pros: Sports, Cool Environment, Good Lookers, Pool Tables, Great Wings, Parking Cons: Dated Restrooms, Worn Tables more

Terrible Service / Fun For Games 7/1/2005

The Cooler is NOT cool if its for a club / lounge / bar, but as a sports bar its not bad for Duck Games. The service has always been subpar at best, filled with kids who care more about making the buck than they do servicing the customers. The Dj is mad weak but the food is interesting. Try to get a table on the elevated platform overlooking the place. Pros: Drinks, Prices, Location Cons: Service, Parking, Food more
