Best

My girlfriends and I stop in from time to time and treat ourselves to some delicious chocolate..we feel guilty together, but the place is just too darn cute delicious, and fun!! ...

Worst

I don't know about this Alabama location, but when went to this new place located at Rice village, I wasn't very happy with the service I got. The price tag for the cherries I was...

Yum! Yum! great stuff inside 10/31/2005

This place is incredible.. everything is soo good it is hard to choose. The ice cream is rich and flavorful.. like a real european creamery. My kids go ape when we get in here. highly recommend Pros: great food, nice people, happy Cons: parking lot is tight more

I love this place so much. 8/16/2005

I recently moved to San Francisco from Houston and I miss the Chocolate Bar so much. I think about the ice cream at least once a day. The root beer float is the best. It really tastes like root beer!!! I'm going back to Houston this weekend, but I'll only be in the 'burbs. I actually called one of my friends who lives in the loop and asked her to bring me a big thing of ice cream. If anyone in Houston would like to mail me root beer float ice cream, I would much appreciate it. Pros: Root Beer Float, Ice cream Cons: Limited parking, Should be 24hrs more

A wonderful place to get your chocolate fix! 7/20/2005

This is by far one of the premier after date dessert places in Houston. My wife and I never miss a chance to go by after dining out for a romantic date. The Chocolate Bar is also an outstanding place to take the kids. We take ours after going to the zoo or the museums. They love it. Especially the ice cream. I told my sister about it and she took my niece and her little frinds there for a princess party. Rave reviews all around from the four year olds and their mothers. They will all be sure to go back. One thing to watch for. Parking is tight and make sure to go in slow due to the steep incline. Pros: Quality, Variety, Service Cons: Parking more

What Was That Last Person Thinking? 7/18/2005

I laughed when I read that last review. That reviewer is none other than the owner of Chocolate Du Monde! Pros: Ice Cream to Die for!, Customer Service, Fun more

Don't Bring Your Kids! 7/4/2005

You'd think that an ice cream/candy store would welcome children. I went there with my neighborhood playgroup today (babies and toddlers) and the owner had the nerve to come out and ask our children not to run around the tables. The place was empty and they were not touching merchandise or anything, just souped up on sugar and playing. We tossed our half-eaten ice cream and cookies and left. There are much more friendly dessert spots in Houston with equally good or better treats. Pros: Uncrowded, Easy parking Cons: Unfriendly, Too Expensive more

It's a CHOCOLATE HEAVEN!!! 11/29/2004

If you like Chocolate... DON'T MISS GOING TO THIS PLACE!!! 24 rotating kinds of Ice Cream...Desserts to DIE for!!! Fun atmosphere, Hip crowd!!! more

Bill Gates didn't wait in line! 9/5/2004

Hi, I'm Dr.Pepper, a professor of archeology at the University of California, University of Maine, and study hall teacher at Lanier middle school. These recent reviews do this store no justice! Come in on a busy Saturday night to see that even though there may be people all around, you *WILL* be offered help withing just a few minutes, but you won't be ready for help because there is too much to look at! It is 2.95 for around 3-4 ounces of gourmet ice cream. I guess that is expensive if you're living off government cheese or making minimum wage. Plus it is cheaper than a few others I've been to. The owners are all very nice and friendly. They have water bowls for thirty puppies and are *NEVER* seen without a smile. This is a place I love to bring my family to,and indulge on my favorite food group... CHOCOLATE! Pros: Chocolate, ice cream, cakes.. more? Cons: , won't let you jump in, chocolate machines more

Expensive Yummy Food w Horrible Service 8/23/2004

Wow! If you are looking for Chocolate, this is your place! If you are looking for good and fast service then you are not at the right place. I love the food here but it takes you forever to get your food. I stopped in on a Monday night when it wasn't that busy, stood at the front of the line, and no one would help me. Through the back window you could see several employees eating and chatting. You pay an arm and a leg for these yummy treats ... the least the employees can do is wait on you and take your money. As I said if you want desser, go here. If you want moderately convienent service, go somewhere else. Pros: Great Cakes and Pies Cons: , Very Expensive, Scary Music more

Worth it! 6/6/2004

Since the addition of the ""cake"" gallery, it has only gotten better! The variety of everything dipped in chocolate (i.e. nutter butters, potato chips, fruit, etc) is breathtaking. However, the homemade ice cream is fantastic! The creative flavors include things like thin mint girl scout cookies, chocolate covered strawberries...and the list goes on!! The only improvement would be the coffee. But of course, MILK is sold to wash the cookies, cake, candies, brownies, and ice cream down. Pros: ice cream, cake, candy Cons: , parking, counter crowding more

Delicious & Fun 6/6/2004

I've always liked the ice cream at The Chocolate Bar, but I really fell in love with the business during our last visit. Boy, was it busy in there! Why was I so impressed? We were served right away and everyone, even the staff, seemed to be having such a great time! Although HOT outside, it was cool and friendly at, what I now like to call, ""The Bar."" I recommend this great little shop to all my friends. Oh, and it's a great place to find quick gifts too. more

Yummy. 5/29/2004

It is yummy and fun! The place is great - friendly to kids and adults (who turn into kids at this place). The icecream is absolutely the best I have tasted anywhere. My friends and I sampled a number of the ice cream choices and each one was delicious. I didn't have the chocolate bars but my friends who did, raved about them. There are also other baked deserts that we need to go back and try. I also am going to buy gifts there as the prices were great. Summary: I recommend the Chocolate Bar highly both for the eats as well as the atmosphere . Pros: Delicious, Friendly, Reasonably priced more

Absolutely Fantastic! 5/18/2004

The candy, ice cream and desserts are just fabulously delicious. I have had the most wonderful experience the 4 or 5 times I've visited. This place should be a major tourist attraction in Houston. If you live in the city and haven't visited, it's a darn shame. What a treasure we have with this place. more

chocolate ice cream heaven 3/6/2004

For you chocolate lovers out there the ice cream here is unbelievable.. it is all made fresh on site and have creative flavoring. My favorite so far is the Orange Sunrise.. The Chocolate Truffle flavor is pretty darn good as well. more

Everybody can find something great there. I bought sugar-free for my diabetic mom, dog biscuits for my pups(covered in carob), and delish choc dipped strawberries and rasberries! YUMMY!! more

A perfect neighbor 1/20/2004

My apartment is a one block walk from this fabulous place. I'm a student and when I need a study break I walk over for an ice cream fix. Joanie, Brit or Gilbert will let you sample everything. The ice creams are both dark and white chocolate based. Try mixing and matching different combinations. My favorites are the dark chocolate orange and the white chocolate lemon - they are to die for!!! The Bar also offers candies, cakes and pies - try the chocolate pecan pie. Pros: Friendly service, Wide variety, Great atmosphere Cons: Small parking area more

Chocolate lover's heaven 5/13/2003

Could not pass up a chance to brag on this place! The ice cream is my favorite treat...just try the chocolate truffle...you'll be hooked. Great place for gift buying when you are stuck for something unique...I recommend the chocolate popcorn...a sure hit! It covers all the bases. more

Fabulous! 3/31/2003

Best ice cream in town, hands down. And pretty much anything else you can thing of that can be covered in or carved from a bar of chololate. If that's not enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, Candilicious next door (same owner) has enough varieties of candy to make yourself sick with sugar. If you're looking for something in specific and can't find it (which is hard to imagine) the owner will even order it for you! Cons: Parking can run short, Not on your diet more

OOooooooo CHOCOLATE!! 10/30/2002

AWESOME place!!!!! Owners are truly nice guys and I just LOVE their Snowberry ice cream!!!!! They just need to add some concoction w/ chocolate and peanuts!!!!!!!!! Pros: CHOCOLATE!!!!!, ICE CREAM!!!!!, YUMMY!!!!! Cons: parking more
