We went to there for a celebration with-a group of us. I was expecting to be there, and get a phenomenal meal and dining experience. However, the evening was a little disappointing. The food, service and ambiance all were just fine, but when you out for a night, you should expect more than just ok, I only satisfied, my group were not. The was food good, the service and atmosphere were nice, but I can't really say wow, based on this visit? the value really was not there for the amount of $$$$ we spent, I'll check it out again but not with a group, sorry! more

Absolutely Terrible!!! 10/5/2009

Please don't waste your time or money. I've patronized the Capital Grille for the past 10 years, and I have never seen such a well-founded destination restaurant succumb to bad management practices and corporate ideology than this operation! Walk right on by and dine at Manny's! Pros: Maybe I can write off the expense?? Cons: Too many to list!! more

Best Bartenders Ever!! 6/2/2009

I have been to the Capital Grille now five times. Everytime I sit at the bar, Christina, the bartender remembers my name, has my drink ready and goes above and beyond to make my dinner exceptional. I love the Delmonico and the Sliced Filet is out of this world! They were out of my favorite vodka one time and Christina proceeded to go to another restaurant to find some for me. She truly cares about her guests and their dining experience. I also met Emily who was without a doubt, amazing as well. I would recommend the Capital Grille for any occasion and always sit in the bar. Pros: Great Food, Ambiance, and Bartender made my night! more

I shouldnt say I was surprised because by how good my meal was but I have to say that was thE best steak ive ever had in my life! Dave was beyond knowledgable and I felt welcome from the second I walked through the doors. more

Far exceeded expectations! 3/30/2009

My husband & I decided to treat ourselves to an elegant meal and chose The Capital Grille. From the moment we entered the restaurant, the staff treated us as though we were the only people in the place. When I asked where the restroom was located, the server walked me to the restroom. When I returned, a new cloth napkin was waiting for me at the table. Throughout the entire meal, our server checked in on us and made us feel very special without overdoing it. more

The mean was fantastic, but the service was a step above the rest. We went for my birthday and were treated fantastic and received a birthday card signed by the staff. We will definitely eat here again. more

We have been to Capital Grille for 2 different special occassions and both times the service, food and wine were amazing. Great place for a quiet, romantic meal and reasonably priced for the quality. Highly recommend more

My husband took me here for our one year wedding anniversary. I knew this place was classy, but it exceded my expectations. From the friendly front desk to the wait staff and our own personal watier, it was first class all the way. They even took our picture and even had it printed and ""framed"" and all of the staff signed a Happy Anniversary card that was waiting at our table for us. We started off with a free champagne toast and ended our meal with a free dessert to boot! Of course, we both ordered steaks for our meals, which were cooked perfectly and very tender. We will definitely be going back and soon! By far our very best dining experience ever. Pros: Customer service, wine list, desserts, atmosphere more

hard to beat meals 6/20/2008

I have eaten at the capital grille twice, and of the five best meals I've ever eaten in my life those two meals are in the top five. The service was unbeatable and Matthew was very informative and entertaining. I like their steaks and their desserts are to die for. The prices are up there but I would recommend this place for a special occasion date. It is very loud so I would not call it romantic. I also liked the decor and location is close to the theaters. Pros: the food, thats why I go to restaurants Cons: a little noisy and a little pricey more

Great steak place 2/29/2008

My boyfriend took me here after I got a new job. It was a great location, offered great customer service and the food was super good. He made reservations and we had a pretty private booth. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice dinner or lunch and is willing to pay a little more for the better customer service. more

Upscale and FANTASTIC! 9/21/2007

I will be honest in my review- the night I am reviewing was in December 2006. I do realize that things can change in such a long period of time- so please remember that while reading.\r We went to The Capital Grille for my birthday celebration last year; we walked in the door to a very warm wonderful greeting by the staff. Once we arrived at our table there was a card sitting there with my name on it- it was a very short and simple ""Happy Birthday"" signed by the staff working that night. What a great first impression of this place! \r We were treated with the utmost respect and had wonderful service throughout our entire visit. Our food was cooked to perfection and full of flavor! At a place the this you can't expect to leave without paying top prices; the food is more than worth it! \r I highly recommend The Capital Grille to anyone who is looking for a nice dinner in a fun city. It was a full house, which is always a good thing! The atmosphere was not too loud and not too quite- perfect for a nice meal with some people that I love with all my heart! 3 Times a Lady 7/16/2007

I rarely do this..............but 3 times in a row (in the past 3 months) I've had overcooked filet. Ordered Med. Rare and recieve Med Well to Well. I'm really not that picky..........ok I am when it comes to my filet. Really though..............i'd settle for Medium, but not well done when I order it Med. Rare. At least they had the manager talk to me one of the three times this happened. Other than that, the servers were polished and well versed. The location is great and it is a nice atmosphere, but come on..............3 times of screwing up what they should do best???????????? Oh yeah and the dessert was good but not beyond that. Forgive me but after 3 times i'd say check out another place because there are so many good spots in our area. Cons: Overcooked Filet more

Best steakhouse in Minnesota! 3/11/2007

There are a number of great steakhouses in downtown Minneapolis (Manny's, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, etc). However, Capital Grill sticks out as the best in my mind. This is based on their Delmonico bone-in Ribeye & the ambiance. If you haven't gone, I recommend trying it out for a night with the guys or a romantic date. more

Not quite up to the hype.... 3/10/2007

My sister and I like to go to a ""$$$$"" restaurant about once a month or so, and this was our first trip to Capital Grille. Yes, my expectations were high, since we had been to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse about four times in a row prior to this. The bread was great. The service and ambiance were fabulous. But.... my filet Mignon was crunchy on the outside and well-done on the inside, when I ordered it ""on the rare side of medium."" This brought out the gristle, and I couldn't eat very much of it. Thankfully, the potatoes were good, and the dessert was fabulous. Our waiter, Bruce, was very professional and friendly. I will probably go back again, maybe it was just an off night. I'm weak around good desserts. Pros: Free valet parking, great service Cons: None, really. more

Where not to sit 1/8/2007

Fabulous food, great ambiance, but definately steer clear from table 400. It's a small table for 2 right by the kitchen and next to a large round table. The waiter could barely get to us and it felt cramped, but that is the only bad table in there. The restaurant is A+ otherwise. One of my favorite Twin City Restaurants.\r Step into the good-old-boys dinner club, where they wait on you hand and foot.\r Great Steaks & Service. Convenient downtown location. Very Romantic with Exceptional Service 6/17/2005

My husband and I went here recently for a romantic night out, and from the moment we were seated, we were treated with exceptional service. The waiter went over the menu with us and even asked what we were here to eat and went over those specific items. The waiter also was very meticulous about keeping our water and wine glasses full. When my husband had to use the bathroom, he was escorted by our waiter, and the bathrooms were quite impressive--not to mention while he was gone the waiter came back and re-folded his napkin. We ordered filet mingon, and the outside was a little charred and the middle was just about right. I was a little disappointed by that--for a $35 steak, it better be done to perfection.
