Its easily my favorite hole-in-the-wall in Chapel Hill. its a great place to duck into with a few friends or on a date. The bartenders (especially Rose) are amazing (Doug and Tim too). I almost hesitate to write a review because I don't want every one going there! But, yeah, totally worth it, good times, good drinks, and good specials. My friend and I stumbled into the Blue Horn Lounge randomly one Saturday night as it was POURING and we just needed to get inside. We were EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised. Rose, the bartender, was amazing, and we had so much fun. If you're looking to go out in Chapel Hill, this place comes highly recommended. Great small bar. Service depends on the bartender. Doug is the best. The female bartender isn't the friendliest and you'll have to compete with her TV (loud!). But the owners are so nice and the bathroom is seriously the best in in town - and no smoking too! BHL is a very special place for many reasons... we go there to hang out with Doug, the most awesome bartender who can mix a mean drink or recommend the perfect beer for your hops preference, and to see Steve & Marshall, the friendliest and most genuine business men in Chapel Hill, and to hear incredibly talented musicians fill the air (with no cover charge, are you sure this is Franklin St!?) night after night, and last but not least just to hang with other folks like us who enjoy a cozy atmosphere & share an appreciation for fine tile work. Since NY Eve, we also go there to celebrate the spot where we got engaged at the stroke of midnight & officially started our lives together. This is the finest bar I have ever been to. I always have a great time. The uniqueness of this bar starts when you walk through the front door and the whole entire staff, including the owners know your name and your drink preference. They have live music every night of the week and these bands only have a very small place to set up and play, but the creative owners make it work even if a guitar player is standing in the doorway, standing on a bench and a harmonica player is sitting in the middle of the bar on a barstool. I would not go to any other bar in Chapel Hill and If it's closed I go home! It is a fabulous bar to go to and trust me I've been to them all. more

Atmosphere is sophisticated and quaint...but perfect size. Great staff.... Wonderful and intimate live music! I live in Nashville and it reminds me of home... will definitely return on my next visit to North Carolina. Would absolutely recommend for girls/guy night stop...great for dates...and just hanging out with an old friend. TIP: Be sure to try the Rose martini... made by Rose the bartender! Enjoy!! My fiance and I have been coming to Blue Horn for over a year now. While a good chunk of our money has gone to this bar over the past year, it is well worth it. The kindness that we are treated with each time is great! My fiance gets a beer each time and it is waiting on him when he gets to his chair, I am a little more complicated and not always ordering the same drinks..haha. I have made awesome friends with the bartenders and the owners. Marshall and Steve make the Blue Horn what it is. I thought that the bar wouldn't be the same after they bought it...i was wrong, it is better than ever! We only go to another bar if we have a friend that wants to, otherwise, count us out. Not only is the service great, but the drinks are great too. I would rather pay $7 for a dirty martini with blue cheese olives (yes, I said Blue Cheese), and have the drink made beautifully, then pay $5 elsewhere, and absolutely hate it...wouldn't you? The live bands are always different and bring in a great crowd. Open mic night on Monday's is always great too. Then in football season, they have the games..what's not to love. They know my name, and knew it the first time they met me. I can't wait till they open the 2nd store! This was my 2nd visit to the Blue Horn and I felt like I was back on 6th Street in Austin, TX. David Spencer's Band was unbelievabel!!!! I could have sat there all night. It was genuine and real music that everyone enjoyed. The Blue Horn has live musc on a regular basis and it if I didn't live in Raleigh, I'm sure it's the place you'd find me the most. I love the Blue Horn!!...Great people, Great drinks, and a GREAT place to have a relaxed, fun evening with friends. The owners are wonderful and they make an effeort talk to each and every one that walks through their doors. You immediately feel like you've been going there forever. (Good luck trying to find that kind of hospitality in the local bars and clubs). The bartenders do an outstanding job making sure everyone is taken care of and they're professional but very attentive at the same time. I believe the Payne brothers have definitely tapped in to a unique venue that many of us have been looking for. more

Blue Horn Lounge is a little piece of heaven right there on Franklin Street. It is small but that lends itself to the "Cheers" like atmosphere where the bartenders and owners (Steve and Marshall) make a point to greet you and make sure you are having a great time. The place has some of the best bartenders in all of Chapel Hill and the drinks are awesome. (Doug, you are the man!)It is the perfect place for people from 21-81 who just want to "chill out" and have a good drink to those who are looking for a fun place to have a friend's night out! The bar has live music acts that are outstanding and there is no cover charge! You need to get there early, though because it tends to get very crowded later on. Blue Horn is a small bar but there is certainly a lot happening there from the friendly and efficient service from the bartenders , to the charming, smiling bar owners, Steve and Marshall, who will make sure you are ALWAYS having a great time, to the local music that makes it the coolest place to hang out. The crowd is mixed from college age to the older folks, which means it attracts all kinds. It really is a neat little place with lots going on. The drinks are always amazing with their wide variety of beers and liqours. The Blue Horn Lounge is a great place to get acquainted with people. You'll never meet an unfriendly face. Have you ever been to a bar or club where everybody knows your name? At the Blue Horn everybody does know your name. Steve and Marshall the owners make everyone feel like family and you always have a great time there hanging out with your friends. Oh by the way the bartenders are the best in town! Blue Horn has top shelf liquors and Doug, Michael, Dan, Josh, Rose and George knows how to create a specialty drink just for you. This place is awesome. The coolest bar in Chapel Hill. Great "free" LIVE MUSIC but you have to be a member, memberships are a buck! Best atmosphere of any Franklin Street Bar but the place is small. I came early to hear Taz Halloween perform and with in a few minutes the place was packed. Great drinks and a really cool bathroom will impress. Nothing like the dirty college bars in Chapel Hill, you gotta check it out. more

Went here with a couple of my buddies for a few drinks last night and wound up hanging out all night. Really comfortable, nice place. Met alot of people- and felt like I wound up knowing everyone there... Bartender had the tunes playing all night but still was able to talk without shouting...and still hear great music... Definitely going back.. more

The Blue Horn Lounge is a wonderful place to go with friends or by yourself. The first time I went there I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere. The bartenders are friendly and can make great drinks that I have found not to taste so good at other places. It is more upscale, with drinks on the menu that you can't find in most of the other bars on Franklin Street. There is nothing on tap, but the selection of beers is quite vast. The bathroom is clean and roomy, something I look for in a place that I frequent! The people in there seemed to be between early 20's and late 50's. There are 3 plasma tv's that we watched the NHL playoffs on and we could see from every part of the bar. It is the neighborhood bar where you get the feeling everyone could know your name if you stopped in every so often. The 2 owners made it even more personable because they were there and personally greeted people as they came in. Apparently the live music during the week is quite wonderful. I intend to check it out. I think you should too. more

A place that I could go into by myself and feel as comfortable as if I went with a group of friends.
