Me and the rest of my party of 6 sit down for a nice dinner on vacation. We got our food and noticed that there were some mistakes that had been made. The waitress eventually realized she wasnt going to take the blame , ( even though she started out saying she was sorry), said she'd see what she could do and dissapeared while the hostess/manager gave us the same song and dance after much sighing and eye rolling.The kicker was when the owner came to the table, acted like we didnt know what we were talking about, we were wrong and even at one point had the nerve to say to one of us, ""no direspect sir, but where are you from?"" WTF??? what kind of restaurant owner has the gall to say that to a paying customer?? So eventually they half as!ed fixed it which was all they had to do all along and then had the nerve to add a 20% gratuity onto the check even though that is not a policy and is nowhere on the menu. I have a feeling thats not legal. When we asked if that was policy , thay said ""sometimes."" translation,"" when i dont do my job right and treat customers like crap and know they arent going to leave me a tip."" Terrace Tavern has one of the most fun atmospheres ever. There are flamingos everywhere, which amuses me beyond explanation. The food is great -- run of the mill bar/club food, quesadillas, burgers, sandwiches, some more unique stuff as specials, and usually there's pretty good fish. The waitstaff is composed of people with awesome attitudes, always cheery and friendly. The place is usually pretty busy and great for families, kids, dates, and large groups. We've had up to about 10 people seated fairly quickly, despite the fact that it was prime dinner time and there was a lot going on. The place is noisy, too -- it's not by any means a romantic atmosphere, but it's fun and perfectly appropriate for people who are on LBI and get tired of places like The Marlin. Definitely get a frozen drink if you head over there -- they make great drinks.
