Team Volkswagen of Hayward---worst ever dealership 9/24/2011

Team Volkswagen of Hayward---worst ever dealership Those who are writing good reviews must have been paid by them. SINCE THIS PLACE ARE ALL LIARS!!! No service guaranteed, LIE guaranteed. I was so stupid not having read the reviews here first. Now I just wish follow buyers keep away from this place. This is my experience. I went to this dealer to pick up my new car. And they told me the WORST LIE IN THE WORLD. I went with a well prepared list of what and how to check. I went in at 4pm. There is one man and one lady came up. I said I want a test drive first since I have not drive the car on highway yet. The man smiled to me and turned around to the lady:"" Take them to the bank and get the check."" So the lady sat in the car and constantly persuade me to go to the bank ASAP. I said let me check the car first. I came here and I already get all the insurance done. I am gonna to pay. The lady did not listen to me, she just kept on urging all the way and the man called her every 5 mins for six times. I was so annoyed and went to the bank. But after I got the check she immediately stopped talking. I asked her that the gas tank is not full. Could the dealer give me a full tank gas? She said since it was a new car, that it came with perfect service, everything will be full. I asked twice to double check since I need to drive a long way back home. She said do not worry. She would make sure I got it. Later I went in to pay after checking all the parts and a mechanic get my car inside for final service. The man led me into office and ask for the check. He did not check my insurance nor answer any of my questions. He just gave me the manual, tell me to read and kicked me out after i gave him the check by saying that I had never seen anyone like you examining a new car like that, you were the first! I said ""why not? it is my first car."" He laughed out loud ""I have been here for a long time. You are the first to do that. Unbelievable. Hahaha!"" I went out and wait for the car for 15 mins. When it came out I saw the gas tank was still a little bit below 1/4, the number after my test driving (1/4 is before my test driving). When I was trying to find the lady who promised me a full tank of gas, it turned out the lady was gone. So I found the man who got my check and asked for the gas. The man said in an arrogant voice ""You can ask around. No dealer does that. I never provide that."" I said ""I asked twice and the lady promised me."" Then he called the lady and said to her ""Hey, the man said you promised him something?"" The lady was on speaker""Yeah, the gas."" The man said ""Hey! hey! You are on speaker!"" The lady immediately changed her tone ""I never promised anything. I just say I need to ask my boss."" I said ""YOU ARE LING! HOW CAN YOU TELL SUCH A BAD LIE?! If you need to ask your boss, why are you off work now?! And you said yes before he remind you are on the speaker!"" The man hang it out before I finished and said ""I am not ling"" with a face saying ""yes, I am. I lied, so what?!"" I said ""Ok, this is the WORST LIE I have ever heard in the world. It is just 3/4 tank of gas. Your credit is worth 3/4 tank of gas."" This is the service I got. I am so fortunate that I checked all the parts. I cannot imagine if there is something wrong how much worse the dealer will be. They are the group of people to LIE shamelessly just in front of you. I just wish to share my experience and hope everyone who has a car or who is going to buy a car will never have a chance to be cheated by them. more

Great Place Great People 8/19/2011

This place has some great people working there that are ""down to earth""!! They know how to treat people and show you a lot of respect! I think most of the negative reviews are from other dealers slandering this dealer!!!To all my friends and family, I recommend this Volkswagen dealer!! more

WORST DEALERSHIP EVER 6/6/2011

This place is as SHADY as a car dealership gets. A bunch of lying crooks work here that WILL cheat you. The manager is so unprofessional too. I saw him yelling at another customer. This place doesn't deserve anyone's hard earned money. Trust me, TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!!! more

The best car buying experience EVER! 7/6/2010

When researching dealerships in the San Francisco Bay Area, sadly (and erroneously) you will quickly find negative reviews about this dealership on the Internet. Folks seem to want to go out of their way to speak poorly of this dealership for no good reason, truly. However, if you take a second look, you will notice that it is usually the same group of people who simply have nothing good to say about anything. So, read what they have to say, but take everything with a grain of salt and always make up your own mind first. That is exactly what my husband and I did. We initially had our doubts (big time!) because, like you, we had also read all those awful reviews. But, we decided to make up our own minds, take the reviews with a grain of salt, and give the dealership the benefit of the doubt. After all, they offered the best price and promised not to disappoint. The worst thing that could happen was that we would have wasted an hour of our time. But, turns our, that they did not waste our time! We arrived very skeptical and ready to leave the ""bargaining table"" should the reviews on the internet prove to be true. Instead, we were treated like friends and the sales reps were awesome! We got the price as negotiated via e-mail, everything was as discussed and in black and white for us to see, not one extra charge thrown in at the last minute, the car was what we had discussed, and the sales reps (Jake, Abby, and Jay) and the finance manager (Sami) were down to earth, straightforward, and amazingly friendly and helpful. Simply put, of all the cars we have ever purchased, this was by far the more pleasant and honest transaction of all. Sure, like us, you might think the dealer wrote this and I would not blame you because, after all, dealers do write their own reviews at times. However, this one was written by a couple who truly did have a good experience and would like you to take the time to get in touch with Team Volkswagen of Hayward and make up your own minds. Discuss what you are looking for and negotiate. We are willing to bet that you won't be disappointed - we were not and are now enjoying our super cool VW. Thank you guys! Keep up the good work... Pros: Honest, friendly, does what was promised Cons: Could work a bit on delivery of car more

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE DISHONEST PEOPLE 12/17/2009

In 3 hours they sold my 81 year old husband a new VW. He paid over $30,000 for a car with a MRSP of just over $23,000. I love this man but he is too trusting and I was not with him! Be aware that there is no consumer protection law for buyers of new cars in California. There is no 3 day cooling off period. You can verify this by googling auto protection laws for yourself. We am not the only people who have been swindled by this Team Volkswagon (formerly known as Volkswagon of Hayward). Check them out on the BBB web site. They have a grade of F and over 15 complaints. No matter what wonderful car they have please DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS! Writing a bad review is my only recourse--don't put yourself in my shoes. Pros: They are friendly. They are smooth talking. They are convincing. Then you figure out you've been had Cons: They lie, cheat and do not respond to calls more

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE DISHONEST PEOPLE 12/14/2009

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE DISHONEST PEOPLE They are friendly. They are smooth talking. They are convincing. Then you figure out you've been had They lie, cheat and do not respond to calls This VW dealership is now known as Team Volkswagon. They are dishonest people. Check them out on BBB. There they get an F and 15 customer complaints! As for me, I wish I could give them less than one star! I guess it is my fault for letting my 81 year old husband go for a ""test drive"" whilst I was elsewhere. He came home with a new VW jetta wagon diesel, which is the car he wanted, but he was talked into overpaying by several thousand dollars. Unfortunately he paid them with a check (which they promptly cashed). To add insult to injury they gave him a mere $2,750 for his 9 year old Nissan Quest van which had only 48,000 miles on it. I wanted that van for our grandson! When I found out how little they had paid for his Nisson van, we drove back to the VW dealership and said we wanted to buy the van back. At first Jay (a salesman) said okay because the van had major problems like needing a $400 brake job because the brakes were 95% gone. Then he said the red light that indicated the windshield reservoir was empty stayed on (this light had been on for two years and we had already told them that fact) therefore the entire electrical system was bad and would need to be replaced for $1,600. After telling us what bad shape the van was in, Jay said at anyway the van was in their repair shop.with the tires off--but come the next day, Monday, we could buy it back for the $2,750. Today is Monday, the supervisor Sammy, says he can not sell it back to us. It is now ""in the system"" and has to go to an auction yard and can only be sold to a wholesaler. Oh, I just learned that I can get a new brake job for $150--if it really needs it--and a licensed Nissan mechanic says that the red light on the windshield reservoir indicated a burned out sensor. What creeps. How demeaning. We got taken by this dealership. All I can do is cry about the fact that I have a too trusting husband and there are some unscruplous people who will take advantage of unwary senior without a second thought. Please do not do business with these dishonest people. VWs are fine cars but this dealership, its salesmen and supervisors are not good people. Pros: They are friendly. They are smooth talking. They are convincing. Then you figure out you've been had Cons: They lie, cheat and do not respond to calls more

Avoid this place! 3/29/2009

Extremely upset and disappointed. Everyone, especially the Finance Manager and the Owner, were selfish and rude. There was only one employee who was considerate, Sayed. All negative reviews are on the dot. They are dishonest, unreliable, and disrespectful. Let me just say that yelling and tears came from handling with this location. DO NOT buy from this dealer. I am sure that the positive reviews are set up. Cons: Terrible Service more

Do not waste your time elsewhere! 10/6/2008

Most Volkswagen dealerships I visited in the SF bay area just wasted my time by trying to trick me into buying a car that I didn't want. Volkswagen of Hayward did not disappoint. After talking to Ray on the phone, I bought a car that other dealers claimed ""doesn't exist"", just under the invoice. more

8000 dollars down the toilet 9/1/2006

bought a used car, 2003, 47,000 miles. When I was looking for a car they were very friendly and joking around. Maybe I am naive or too trusting, but this friendliness turned out only to be a mask. First thing, I bought the car under the conditions that they would fix certain cosmetic things like a tear in the window liner, missing mirror, cleaning, etc. they did none of this except a vacuum/shampoo of the car. Furthermore, when I test drove the car, I did not hear any noises. However, 24-hours after I got the car, I heard several and had to bring the car back 3-4 times. There was squealing from the brakes, a clunking/grinding noise, and a squeal when I turned the wheel. After the last time bringing it back, they had a mechanic drive in the car with me. He heard all of these noises as well, however they told me that there was ""nothing wrong"" and what did I expect buying a used car? Well, I expected to get a car that was not falling apart. Instead I threw $8,000 down the toilet. more
