Teala's Has the Recipe for Great Food 12/28/2006

The food was great. I lived in New Mexico for 13 years and I have never been able to find good mexican food in Houston the way it is prepared in New Mexico. Teala's has the secret. We tried green chicken enchiladas and their chile relleno. Both were fantastic. Service was excellent and there was no waiting. The atmosphere is a combiantion of rustic and neighborhood. Most entrees are between $10 and $20. Our dinner with two margaritas and tip was $44.00. There is lots to try so we will be back. Pros: service, tasty food, value Cons: need to price the valet parking into the dinner budget more

Best Margaritas on the Patio!!! 9/22/2006

Tila's has the best margaritas on the patio. The patio is so romantic and the food is savory, savory, savory. I loved the Chillean Sea Bass. Tilas is a great place to go if you want to enjoy delicious mexican food served by a friendly staff and enjoy the outdoors. I highly recommend it!! Pros: Fantastic Margaritas and savory mexican food more

Cochinita Pibil is a must 9/2/2006

Excellent ambiance and consistent food. Really enjoyable. The price is good and they accomodate big groups right on the spot. The sauces are really good. Very tasty. I travel to Mexico frequently and always recomend Tealas and hugos. Great job Pros: Quality food and Excellent flavor margaritas Cons: Service can be slow sometimes more

Food - eh, Ritas - Hell yeah! 8/11/2006

So Teala's - I have to say, there is really nothing at all Thai about this food. Just because the owner happens to be Thai does not translate to a Thai slant on the Food. So please, stop perpetuating this concept - the food is Mexican, and not the best at that.\r \r HOWEVER - The margaritas are some of if not THE best in Houston. The straight up on the rocks is to die for, but when you can get your hands on a Guava Margarita - why wouldn't you?? Go with some girl friends and drink it up. I love their 'ritas and feel they are worth a trip in and of themselves. Pros: Margaritas, Margaritas on the Rocks, Guava Ritas [notice a theme?] Cons: Food is anti-climactic at best more

Hands Down - Houston's Best Frozen Margarita! 5/4/2006

Tasty food, FUN attentative servers, and never an empty water glass or basket of chips. Service is top notch whether you're having lunch, eating dinner, having a birthday party or just sitting at the bar. You will love the patio no matter what time of year it is. Although all the staff is wonderful, ask for Pam or Isabel and you'll be treated as if you are the only ones in the restaurant! Pros: food, margaritas, service more

Wonderful place to go! 1/15/2006

Great atmosphere, drinks, food, waitstaff, and time! I would have no problem giving this place ""two"" thumbs up and will be going back again. Pros: Food, Drinks, Waitstaff Cons: Parking more

Excellent everything 10/17/2005

I have loved this place from the first time I ever went--excellent everything--no complaints. more

A place away in the city 9/27/2005

Not only the food is great, but also their drinks. The building is a master piece. Great place to impress someone from out of town or thank someone. Affordable, elegant, and relaxing. Their patio is a 'be seen' area. My favorite is the Cochinita Pibil and their nachos! Recommended without hesitation. Ed Pros: Elegant, Great food, Good quantities Cons: too many menu choices more

Sit Outdoors and Take in Your Day 8/19/2005

Few restaurants that offer outdoor seating thrive during the Houston August Heat. Great frozen drinks that have not thawed when served or remain empty very long. The wait staff was very attentive but not overbearing. The food is wonderful and distinctive relative to other Mexican restaurants. Teala's is a great place to hang on a Saturday evening with friends or a casual romantic dinner. A+++ Pros: staff, atmosphere, frozen drinks Cons: parking, spacing of tables more

Best Birthday Ever!!! 6/28/2005

My friends threw me a surprise birthday bash at Teala's this past weekend and it was one of the best birthdays ever! They could not have picked a more perfect place. They gave us our own little nook right next to the bar, which was really great because it felt like we had our own private area in the restaurant. We had really delicious flameado with shrimp for our appetizer, which arrived at our table flaming- absolutely delicious!! All of us decided to split the mixed fajitas and they were incredible. The peach margarita was a huge hit with the girls! I highly recommend Teala's to those of you that are looking for the perfect place for a birthday party or just to gather with friends. Besides having all of my friends and family there- the attentive service, delicious food and incredible ambience, really made it a night to remember!! Pros: great food, service, ambience more

can't forget the quail.. 6/27/2005

the quail is a definite highlight on an awesome menu more

Complacency has set in! 6/24/2005

I've been going here for years and have been a fan of the food. But my last 3 visits have been horrendous - a result of poor management and even worse service. I probably will never return. The wait staff was incredibly inattentive (18 minutes to order drinks), inaccurate in taking food orders, rude, and not apologetic for THEIR errors. About 20 minutes before closing time with several groups still dining, an army of bus boys hurriedly and noisily rearranged the tables and chairs, repeatedly hitting our partys chairs. They swept up garbage and left it in a pile about 2 feet from our table. When we asked to speak to management, we were told to return in two days when ""Mito"" would be back.... Unbelievable! This place has just gone down hill in a hurry and its strong reputation cannot sustain it much longer if these issues arent resolved. Pros: Good Food Cons: Service, Management more

The Best Mexican in Houston! 4/29/2005

If you've lived in Houston for any amount of time, you know you have choices when it comes to mexican fare. I grew up eating out at various Mexican restaurants and for me, there is now only one choice and it is Tealas. Try it once and you will agree. It has been a favorite place to my husband and me for years. Now we have a baby and we take her with us. No surprise-she loves going too! She likes to look around at everything- especially the chandelier. Anytime we have company from out of town we bring them here and even a year later they remember what they had to eat and want to order it again! We live in Cypress now but love it so much we still drive into town for this restaurant.. I would recommend anything on the menu as every option is superb- fajitas, nachos, the black bean dip, guacamole, margaritas (especially mangoritas and guavaritas- WOW!), just to name a few. Lately I've been ordering spinach enchiladas and my husband tried the puerco chops last time and absolutely loved the meal! Teala's is just so different from any other place. There are just so many nice, subtle touches to the food, drink, even the service. It truly creates a unique dining experience. The waitstaff is very kind and attentive and the atmosphere is wonderfully inviting. You're never left wondering where the waiter went but they are very careful to give you plenty of time and let you relax. You can entertain yourself just by looking around at the artistic style in decorating. It is great for a date, a large group gathering, or simply just when you are hungry for great mexican food! I guarantee you will leave every time feeling satisfied and impressed.\r Pros: great atmosphere, delicious food, romantic more

margarita's and chips 9/5/2003

Love the Margarita's and the chips and salsas and black beans. A meal unto itself Pros: drinks Cons: parking more

Greeaat Place! 8/11/2003

A large group of my friends and I went there last weekend for a birthday dinner and had a wonderful time. The food was tasty, and the margaritas excellent! Ask for the Texas Tini, it is the best. Service was great and the staff is really friendly and accomodating. Cute bartenders! Pros: good crowd, atmosphere more

Yummy 8/2/2003

Margaritas were great (frozen, not on the rocks - too much triple sec in those). Salsas were wonderful. Pachuga de Pollo was a little bland. Overall a good place and will give it a second try. The staff was friendly but the manager seemed to be in a foul mood the night we went. Pros: Salsa, frozen margaritas Cons: Parking more

SO MANY GOOD THINGS TO SAY! 7/13/2003

I loved the margarita and the Mojita! Definitely a recommendation! My margarita was frozen and perfect to the taste. I brought a large group of co-workers and friends and had a blast. The food was tremendous. I've even seen a few celebrities in this quiet restaurant, such as Jeff Bagwell, Wayne Dolcefino, and even more. I was treated like royalty and I'm sure thats one of the many reasons they were there too. My car was valet parked and given back to me without a scratch. I recommend this for dates and parties, day or night, with or without children. The restaurant makes a wonderful and lasting impression. Pros: service, margaritas!!, good parking more

WOW!! 3/11/2003

Authentic mexican food and atmosphere, you won't be dissapointed. This is a great place for ANY occasion! Be sure to try the black bean dip and their chile' con queso! This is the best mexican I've had in Houston! I'm a regular! Pros: Inexpensive, good parking, prompt seating more

Margaritas!, Margaritas!, Margaritas!... 1/17/2003

This is the best Mexican restuarant in Houston. Nobody has margaritas like these guys, and the jumbo jalapeno shrimp are incredible. Pros: Margaritas, Deck more

Please-More Bean Dip! 11/15/2002

Teala's is great for lots of reasons, but I must say that our favorite is their bean dip and salsa... though it's only available at nighttime and weekends. The porch is the best place to sit, whether it's summer or winter. And drink some mango margaritas for a really good time! Pros: porch, margaritas, bean dip Cons: PARKING more
