4 star food, 1 star service 2/28/2011

I have never had worse service in Atlanta. The cashiers always have a look of contempt and are sooooo much cooler than you. I love their food. I truly do. But I would rather pick up something at Star Provisions (a few yards away) than deal with the attitudes (that's been going on for years). more

Good food but... 11/12/2006

The food is great, and the drinks are great The service from some ot the staff could be much better. Bad attitudes spoil appetites and consequently tips. I don't know if it's worth the trouble dealing with their hours which seem more convenient for them than the customer, carryout limits, standing in the cold. Look, now I'm pissed again.... more

Good party place 9/14/2006

I went to Taqueria because of the recommendations from Judy's. I found it to be decently cheap, good tacos, and more important to me, a good party atmosphere. It is a small restaurant that has retractable walls that they pull up during clear days. I was fortunate enough to go with 5 of my friends on a beautiful night, and we stayed for hours. The atmosphere is very fun, as people just hang out and talk, and then hit up the bar as well. If you've never been, it's a good place to go if you're looking for a fun mexican restaurant. more

Taqueria Del Sol is located at 1200 Howell Mill Rd NW in Atlanta, Georgia. I simply love this place. We visited this restaurant while in the area, and we weren't disappointed. It's a very unique restaurant. You have to stand in line to order. I do not mean small lines; I mean large lines. We liked this place so much that we went back 2 other times. One of those times, the line was not that long. You can order all kinds of different, unique tacos. You won't be disappointed if you go to this restaurant. It is so great. I recommend this place at five stars. more

Teriffic tacos 3/30/2006

Taqueria del Sol is has amazing tacos for under $2 each. The menu is small but every item is good. All of the tacos are prepared with super fresh ingredients and the salsas and guacamole can't be beat. I cannot say enough good things about the food. The downside is that you have to expect to wait at least 20 minutes to order food. Another negative is that some of the staff is NOT friendly. We are talking "taco nazi" rather than "soup nazi". Be sure not to break one of the "rules" listed above the register or you will hear about it. In spite of the wait and the unfriendly service, I continue to go back week after week for my taco fix. more

Cheap and Delicious 9/9/2005

Try Taqueria Del Sol at an off-time unless you enjoy waiting for a table. Even if you do have to wait, the tacos are worth it. Fresh, fantastic salsa and interesting tacos are filling and inexpensive. They also have an excellent selection of beers, both bottled and on tap. Skip the cokes because they're in cans and you'll need lots to drink with the spicy salsa! If you don't want a beer, try their iced tea. more

Taqueria Del Sol has to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. The tacos and fillings they make are creative, yet delicious. Their drinks are made well. Their chips and salsa and cheese dip are all fresh and first-rate. I really don't think you can go wrong, unless you're looking for truly "authentic" Mexican food. The only downside is because its so popular, seating/parking can be limited. more

Cheap Eats 8/18/2005

Taqueria Del Sol is the perfect place for families to go. Cheap eats, great margaritas for the parents and plenty of finger foods. One caveat, there are NO highchairs. As a result my one year old often slips off his lap to find a nice welcome at the next table. I am sure they appreciate that as he nabs their chips. Best salsa in town, great fish tacos too. Don't forget to try their blue plate specials. more

Yummy tacos! 8/12/2005

When I first heard there was a restaurant where you stood in line to order tacos, I didn't quite understand. Now I do. Taqueria Del Sol is worth the wait. They have the regular southwest appetizers - salsa, guacamole and cheesedip and they're all good. However, the stars of the show are the various types of tacos you can order. I think they're best known for the Talapia tacos but I always order one fried chicken taco (served with a lime mayonaise of some sort) and the pulled barbeque pork. They're both fantastic and cost under two dollars a piece. My two year old son also loves this place. They do have a full bar but the margaritas are what they're known for. more
