This is the best restaurant I ever been to, the food is divine, the service is out standing, and more importantly the ambiance is out of this world, truly this is an experience, who ever built this unique place must have a vision. more

One of the best 11/17/2006

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The atmosphere, food, and drinks are all outstanding. Highly recommended for both casual outings and special occassions! more

Wonderful graduation party 5/20/2006

I had my graduation party with my family at Tangierino restaurant past weekend. it was just fantastic! Food, service, decor...they were just over the top. It was recommended by my friend's sister who dines there regularly and I am so gald we went there. My family had a great time, too. I was happy that the belly dancer lady danced for my special day. What a celebration with great food! They have really good lamb and seafood dishes. I will definitely visit this place again, and I highly recommend the ""experience"" to all. Cheers Pros: Decor, Entrertainment, Food Cons: parking, small space more

Rudeness 5/15/2006

Went during restaurant week. We were practically shoved out the door after having our 3 course meal delivered in 45 mins. Too much about turnover. Went to lounge to have drinks. Was told they needed the table for guests waiting outdoors. We had called for lounge reservations earlier in the day and were told we didn't need them. Shoved out the door practically. Pros: Eccentric, Unique, Ambiance Cons: Rude, Unorganized, All about turnover more

A Happy Happy Mothers Day 5/13/2006

My family and I decided to try somthing different for mothers day this year. We were pleasantly surprised by Tangerino. Usually we go into Boston for special occasions, but this was great! Our server was insightful and the belly dancer was amazing. All in all it was a fantastic experience. The lamb with eggplant was out of this world, as was the tuna tartare. Thank you for your great sevice and delicious food! more

worth trying 10/22/2005

I visited Boston from NY and my family suggested I try Tangierino. I was blown away by the whole place; excellent food, excellent service, and the beautiful (and different than any other restaurants in Boston) decor, and everything. I am glad I tried the place. Next time I am in town, I will be coming again. If anyone will try the place, you must get their tuna-tartar. The best I ever tried! Pros: food Cons: parking more

Great hidden place 10/16/2005

After we read the review on Boston Herald, my friend and I showed up on Saturday night and it was completely booked! So we had to eat at the bar, but was all good(comfortable bar chairs). The bartender was very nice and anwered all our questions on the the menu (never had Moroccan food before) and delivered our dinner perfectly. Very good food. We had our very first belly dance experience. Now I want to learn how to move like that! I wanted a goose martini but no goose on the bar - So I had wine with the meal and that was just perfect. You must try their lamb entrees....WOW!!! It's a very small restaurant, but it was so beautifully decorated that I had to take a tour myself. And lastly....... I know this sounds funny, but even their bathrooms are decorated nicely. ;) Pros: good menu, entertainment, bar dining Cons: lighting more

Tried hooka for the first time! 10/15/2005

We returned to Tangierino! We waited at the bar where the nice bartender made us drinks that were not on the menu (they don't have vodka :( ). The food was excellent as I remember. This time, we tried the hooka lounge after dinner! There was $25.00 minimum/person which sounded bad, but once we set with one hooka and some drinks, we were beyond the cover already. Acceptable, I decided. I never felt so younger clapping with the crowd and dancing. The staff explained that cover charge was due to the people in the past who will smoke their own smoke and not leave all night, and people like us (who want to try the new place) coudln't be seated. I am a business-owner myself, so I totally understand that point. I wish the lounge was bigger (very small), but the ambience was definitely over the top. Pros: service, food, ambience Cons: small, no hard beverage more

Failed hookah attempt 9/29/2005

Four of us tried to get in at about 10:30PM but the bouncer told us no because it was full. We stood outside deciding where else we could go when minutes later the bouncer reappeared with a change of hearts, saying that for $40/person he could seat us. We had just come from dinner and two of us had a cold so we knew we couldnt finish a hookah each($20), plus drinks to max the$40/head. As we discussed our options, the bouncer hurried us to make a decision(even though there was no line), then reduced his fee to $30pp. We were appalled at his appalling technique of enticing clients. We went elsewhere but later that night the other two friends went back and the bouncer let them in for $20pp, 30mins before closing(12:30PM)but couldnt even finish their hookahs+drinks before they were asked to leave. Pros: Interesting decor Cons: RUDE EMPLOYEES more

Great Restaurant 9/25/2005

In my search for a restaurant with belly dancers, I happened upon their website. The atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant I've been too. We went with friends who had been there two other times. Everything was fabulous....the food...tasty and well presented....the Sangria...we went through 3 pitchers! It was nice to see the belly dancer, however I wish she danced longer. My husband has told me at least three times that the lamb was the best he ever had. I had the Halibut which was awesome. We can't wait to go again!! more

Wonderful Experience 9/13/2005

My Friends and I visited Tangierino to celebrate a birthday. We called for reservations and arrived at the appointed time and seated promptly. I note other reviews showed the service to be lacking, but we found it to be well above the Boston average. We each tried traditional dishes and all were wonderful. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of the other items on the menu. The decor was fun and the belly dancer was both beautiful and really a belly dancer. I also noted others review of the wine list. No one in our party drinks, so this wasn't an issue for us. Pros: Great Food, Fun decor, Beautiful BellyDancer Cons: a bit crowded, low lighting, not for groups >6 more

Great food but lacking in some basics 8/28/2005

Tangierino has exceptional food -- great tagines and succulent lamb dishes. But here's my beef with them: Their wine list blows. I called once about a corkage fee (so I could bring a bottle) and was told that I could. When I showed up for dinner, they refused to open my Brunello. I went there again recently and the bartender argued with me about a Bordeaux I was considering. Apparently Bordeaux is a new ""grape"" similar to ""fume blanc."" Hmm. On this occasion, we followed dinner with a stop in the hookah lounge. Apparently, the host, our waitress and the menu failed to tell us there was a $20 per person spending minumum in the lounge. I'm sorry -- I prefer to drive home sober. The food is always good, but the alcohol and hence the evening overall always disappoints. Pros: Ambience, Privacy, Good value Cons: Bad wine list, Inexperienced staff, Bending over lo table more

lelagirl 7/26/2005

A friend told me while visiting Boston to stop by Tangierino, it was the kind of place that you would never forget. I couldn't imagine a restaurant that profound, but it was. Even though my food was excellent, it was the experience that was unforgettable. Walking into the casbah filled with colour and warmth, it was amazing. I have always dreamed of the Mamounia, but this must be the next best thing! more

Monday Night Hot Spot In Charlestown 7/25/2005

My boyfriend Brett and I wandered into Tangerino this evening and had a wonderful romantic night. Sitting by candlelight, quite romantic, we had quite the evening. We had a wonderful vanilla creme brulee, a bottle of Resling, and a hookah with Apple flavoring. I also had some Muscato which was simply tasteful. Our waitress name Olga was beautiful and very charming. We arrived arounf 10:30 and stayed till closing. The owner gave us a tour of the restaurant on our way out the door. We will most defintely be back into the restaurant ASAP. There was also belly dancing that was AWESOME. Defintely one of Charlestown's diamonds in the rough... more

Good food and poor service 6/15/2005

Going with a group of 5, we were seated promptly according to our reservation. After the seating however, the service was much poorer. The waiter was very active, but very forgetful. Later, we found that he was feeling ill and thus was replaced by a different waitress. Again, the waitress was attentive and forgetful. We were brought the wrong orders even after our request to restate our order as she took over. In the end, the food was decent, portions average, but like some of the other reviewers, we felt the experience would be greatly enhanced with better service. Pros: Decent portion sizes, Good food, Good atmosphere Cons: Poor wait staff more
