Takamichi Hair

I've been looking for a good colorist for a long time with no luck. It was only when a friend recommended me to see Marina a few years ago, I knew there was a match. I've been very happy with her work and have been getting a lot of compliments on my hair color. When she changed salons, I followed her to Takamichi Hair and was pleasantly surprised - laidback atmosphere, pleasant staff, convenient location. Highly recommend. more

I have been looking all over NYC for a good hair stylist for the last 3 years. Everywhere I went I was never statisfied. I either did not like the hair cut itself, the atmosphere, or the stylist. Then one day at work I noticed one of my coworkers haircut and loved it. I quickly made an appointment and thought, why not try it, I have tried every other place in the city. When I went to my appointment with Takahiro I had a friendly welcome, and was asked if I wanted any water, tea, or wine. Without any waiting I sat down to get my hair washed and cut. That was my first surprise, I didn't have to wait. Let me just say, you have to go get your haircut here, because the wash itself is worth it alone. Once I sat in Takahiros' chair I felt comfortable in the fact that he knew what he was doing. As he was cutting my hair he kept the conversations going, trying to get to know me. I feel like that is rare today, to find a hair stylist that wants to get to know their clients, so I really enjoyed that. Once my hair was done I was very, very pleased. I love the cut and how it changed the look of my face. I finally found a hair salon and stylist that I am pleased with. I have not stopped getting compliments on my hair since it has been cut. I highly recommend Takamichi Hair and Takahiro. more

I made my first appointment at Takamichi Hair after reading that they were voted Best downtown Salon of 2006 by the Village Voice. The salon is located a block away from my apartment so I decided to try it out. I got a color and cut by Takahiro and I couldn't be happier. Every day ,I get great compliments on my hair. It tok me seven years in NYC to find a stylist who was competent, friendly, not ridiculously overpriced or overbooked. I finally found Mari a few months ago, and she changed my world. I went from hating hair, haircuts, and hair salons to actually looking forward to seeing her-- not just for the fabulous, genius cuts she agave me that still look hot even right out of bed and 3 months grown out-- but for her warm, genuine personality and great conversation. What can I say? I am never satisfied with my hair. I have gone to the best and worst stylists in this fair city and hated every cut. I was just about to start blaming myself when I made an appointment at Takamichi Hair at a friend's suggestion. Takahiro gave me the perfect hair cut! Not only is he a talented stylist, but he is also a makeup artist. I left right from the salon for dinner and dancing with tons of compliments on my new look. Thank you!!!!! more

Marina is an outstanding hair colorist. I've been with her for almost 4 years. I cannot trust anybody else. She is the best. I've been looking for a colorist for some time now. My sister recomended me to see Marina. Her warm personality and friendly nature put me to ease. I am always amazed at the talent that Mari has with hair. She is the most professional hairstylist that I've had. She knows my hair and just creates a haircut that allows for fabulous straight or curly hair days( it was a struggle for me to find a hairdresser that could give me an amazing haircut that could be worn both ways). Wow. I got a really nice cut from Melissa a few days ago. I just love this salon. This might sound cheesy, but I felt so cool last night when I was watching the TimeOut station ondemand and they did a profile on Takamichi. My boyfriend started cracking up when I practically shouted out ""Oh my God that's where I get my hair cut!"" at the tv. Keep up the great work. more
