My wife and I love Astoria and visit whenever we get a chance. Along with Baked Alaska, The Schooner and the Columbian Cafe, T-Paul's ranks with the best Astoria has to offer. Last visit I went for Sunday lunch (yay, they are open on Sundays now until 4). I had the chowder (my current rank #3 I've had all time after- #1 Pike Place Chowder- Seattle, #2 Mo's- Newport, OR) and bay shrimp salad combo. I was not expecting the salad to be real big so I ordered the bowl of chowder. I was wrong, the salad was huge, as was the bowl of chowder, and my wife had to help me finish. She had the chicken, apple and curry quesadilla (they do a lot of interesting quesadillas). It was quite delicious served with house made chips and salsa. The amazing thing at T Paul's is that unlike some other great restaurants, they don't charge you an unfair price, they give you a decent (usually large) portion and the staff treats you with respect and are nice people. One night we had the pleasure of having Paul (co-owner) wait our table. He didn't go out of the way to make us know that he was the owner or helped create the menu or atmosphere, he just waited our table and was very pleasant. I like that. I like T-Paul's. And I will be back whenever I can.
