Good lunches 9/24/2007

Very good lunch options for vegetarians. The quesadillas are great and the sandwiches are delicious. Not much for dinner, but definitely recommended for lunch. Pros: vegetarian options more

Yes, probably the best in Astoria 9/12/2006

My wife and I love Astoria and visit whenever we get a chance. Along with Baked Alaska, The Schooner and the Columbian Cafe, T-Paul's ranks with the best Astoria has to offer. Last visit I went for Sunday lunch (yay, they are open on Sundays now until 4). I had the chowder (my current rank #3 I've had all time after- #1 Pike Place Chowder- Seattle, #2 Mo's- Newport, OR) and bay shrimp salad combo. I was not expecting the salad to be real big so I ordered the bowl of chowder. I was wrong, the salad was huge, as was the bowl of chowder, and my wife had to help me finish. She had the chicken, apple and curry quesadilla (they do a lot of interesting quesadillas). It was quite delicious served with house made chips and salsa. The amazing thing at T Paul's is that unlike some other great restaurants, they don't charge you an unfair price, they give you a decent (usually large) portion and the staff treats you with respect and are nice people. One night we had the pleasure of having Paul (co-owner) wait our table. He didn't go out of the way to make us know that he was the owner or helped create the menu or atmosphere, he just waited our table and was very pleasant. I like that. I like T-Paul's. And I will be back whenever I can. Pros: Food, service, portion size more

My favorite restaurant in Astoria 4/25/2006

I've visited Astoria several times, and have tried many different restaurants there. Urban Cafe is by far the best in every way. The best food (fresh vegetables, quality ingredients), a relaxing ambience, and a wait staff that doesn't act like you're inconveniencing them (which seems to be the standard these days). This place will definitely be our choice whenever we visit Astoria. Pros: good food, nice staff, fresh ingredients Cons: none so far more

A must eat! 1/11/2006

Fresh and exciting food, service, decor. We go once a month! Large portions... you NEVER leave hungry. Down to earth owners and service staff. They make you feel good about eating there and truly appreciate your biz. Decor is warm, hip and cozy... patrons range from the high school hip to the 70+. Jeans & flannel... to theatre going fancy duds. Prices are reasonable. Pennies when you figure the food is exceptional and you get large portions. Specials run around $16. Great specials... lots of local foods and seafoods, lamb, roasts, chicken. Nothing is fried. Live music on Friday's and Sat's. Nice... not too loud, always something interesting and different. The UC is great for the tummy, the eyes, the soul and spirit, and the ears. Tummy Candy, Eye Candy, Soul Candy! The UC is a MUST if you live or visit in the Columbia Pacific region. Cons: Not open 7 days a wk. more
