Editorial review from Citysearch 11/19/2013

Extremely disappointed in our visit. Have several small animals. He did a procedure on two of them without asking and then tried to charge me. Not only that, he made both animals bleed. One bled on his foot when he cut the nail too short and the other was a chunk of his tongue when HE decided to trim the teeth which wouldn't stop bleeding for thirty minutes. Now it's 24 hours later and neither can pick up food with their teeth since Dr. Kim cut them way too short. In addition, the one whose tongue was cut isn't eating food. Now we are mushing up food and trying to feed them by hand. Do NOT go back there! more

Insightful and friendly 1/24/2012

I feel that my pet is well taken of every time I come here. The staff takes its time to explain throughly all the questions about my pet and his care. Some people have the nerve to put up awful reviews because in their case they have also mental issues that they can't solve cuz they need to seek help themselves, too... Reality is here and I believe in my vet he is great and I see that he seeks the best option and care for my furry family member.... more

Felt cheated 11/29/2011

I took my dog to get his vaccines updated and for a general checkup. It turned out he had a minor ear infection and we were given drops to treat it. I ended up paying nearly $500 for that visit because of a costly ""microsope test"" that the vet performed on his own accord without discussing it with me. When I questioned it, the receptionist told me the vet will do what he thinks is right for the dog and that's that. I don't appreciate that kind of emotional blackmail - ie. if I argue with them, I must not care about my dog?? Whether or not it was the right thing to do, it is required of vets and human doctors to explain the purpose and costs of certain procedures before performing them. I found this to be unprofessional and quite frankly, I felt cheated. I won't be going back. P.S. we also used their on-site groomer and I believe it's after a visit to them that my dog got his ear infection (due to water getting in the ear during his bath) more

Great Help 10/6/2011

I brought my dog in to get checked out after he was just sleeping and crying in his sleep he didn't want to play or wake up so he was worrying me. I brought him in told them what was going on and the nice girl at the front desk was very helpful she got me in fast since she saw how bad my dog looked. They checked him out told me what was wrong and gave me some medicine. My over all is a 5 star, they were really helpful and they were very informative and told me how to prevent this on happening in the future. Thanks. more

Incredible 9/30/2011

I have been coming here for 4 years. The doctors and staff are incredible. When my first 2 pets passed away they were especially wonderful and caring. I will always recommend this animal hospital for anyone who truly cares about their extended family members. more

Came though with flying colors 9/29/2011

Dr. Yim had to perform a tumor excision on my pup. It just started growing in his belly. I took him to Ridgefield for his shots and check up but this was the first major(to me at least) procedure to be done. Dr. Yim provided me with up to date info, so that I knew what was going on and I appreciated that effort so that my nerves were calmed. And of course Flinstone came through with flying colors. more

Found my vet 9/15/2011

After adopting my 3 Siamese cats I went in search for a Veterinarian Clinic that was affordable and where the Staff were experienced and caring. I tried a couple of Vets that I was not too pleased with. I was beginning to think there wasn't any decent Vets around so looked outside of my city and came across this hospital in Ridgefield Park...and what a find. Not only are they affordable, but the Staff are very friendly and caring to the needs of my pets. The doc answered all my questions and concerns and I didn't feel rushed to leave quickly for their next patient as I had with the other clinics I tried. Coming from shelters my cats were ill, and after correctly being diagnosed, and given the correct medications they were over their illness's in no time. The ladies who work at the desk are also very friendly. I would recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone. I only have great things to say about them, and gladly I'm no longer searching for anymore Vet. Clinics, my cats will be coming back here if and when they need treatment. more

Very well run 7/1/2011

It's hard for me to find a place for my giant German Shepherd. Believe it or not, some vets are actually afraid of handling him, even though he is harmless! Ridgefield Park is the my savior! The office and clinic are very well run, professional and are always there during posted work hours. more

Zoe was very professional and helpful. She made the visit less stressful. I will recommend her to my family and friends. more

My name is Edison Davalos, and I've been breeding german shepaherds for 20 years, all my dogs have been taken care of at this hospital by doctor kim and his staff. I have never been faced with maltreatment by anyone, and all my dogs remain healthy. The patience they show is pretty amazing considering how many puppies i bring constantly. I would recommend them 100% to any other animal hospital as far as pricing and care. It seems unfair that due to your experience, whether it be that they were over loaded or busy, that you werent seated right away, but they are for the animals, and thats all i need to go by. I am treated well, and my dogs are given the best of care. If you just sat down and heard each employees stories about their own animals, they all bring their animals there. They serve thousands of clients each year, and like in every place of business, customers seem unsatisfied, but i can assure you that your claim is outlandish and incorrect. Please feel free to visit my website and see my dogs for yourself, and how mistaken you are.I reccomend all my clients to this hospital and have never, in 20 years been faced with a complaint. To this day, most of my clients in the area still come to this facility and are very happy with how their animals are treated.\r \r vomdavalosgsd\r \r edisondavalos@aol more

AWFUL, MISTREATMENT 12/13/2010

I have 2 dogs and it was my first time visiting this place. I waited 40min. for the receptionist to put in info onto their computer. Then I had to wait another 30min. for the nurse/assistant who smelled like a heavy smoker, to take down info of my dog. So I spent over an hour just to get the paperwork done. After a brief checkup by the doctor he told one of the nurses to do the blood work on one of my dogs. They took my dog to the back and shaved a whole part of my dog’s neck to do a simple blood work! My dog has short hair and there’s no need for them to do this! And I’ve had the blood work before at different places and my dogs were never shaved!! I was never told that they were going to shave her beforehand and even after they shaved her. The whole shaving part was very shocking to me but when that shaved part on her neck got skin infection later and got swollen I had to call them back and speak to Dr. Kim who is also the owner. He was saying he wasn’t the one who shaved her it was the nurse so I should complain to the nurse instead and he hung up on me!! What kind of a vet is he?? How can a vet say something like that?? Also on that day, when the nurse came back with my dog from the back where they did the testing and the blood works they told me my dog pooped. I’ve taken my dogs to different vets and never had this problem before. So now I am really concerned how they treated my dog in the back that would make her so nervous and upset that would make her poop! It’s been a couple of days now and one of my dogs is still having diarrhea and the other one with the skin infection is suffering from nervousness. She's not eating anything and she would keep hide in the closet or under the table. I would definitely have to take them to a different vet asap. This place is so cruel, unprofessional, disrespectful, rude and DEFINITELY NOT A PLACE I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE ELSE!!! I’VE HAD THE WORST VET EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!\r more

Unprofessional, Unethical, Overpriced 4/13/2009

Awful doesn't even begin to describe my experience. Worse than awful. Let me first say I only brought my cat here because my regular vet, who is wonderful and pleasant and honest and forthcoming and amazing and located in Hackensack who I completely recommend wholeheartedly (Hackensack Animal Hospital), wasn't in his office and my cat was pretty sick. I brought my cat in because he swallowed a bone and needed to pass it, essentially. The vet did not obtain my consent for any treatment, demanded a $350 deposit, and presented an estimate of $700 after treatment had already begun. I went to the office to tell the staff not to allow any further treatments without consulting me first. Also note - not only did he not get permission, he didn't explain anything either - not even the medication he sent the cat home with. When my cat was ready to be picked up the next day, I was working and sent my dad but called ahead to say I didn't like that I was never asked for consent, I would not have agreed to the excessive and overpriced treatments performed, and therefore I wanted to dispute the invoice/balance and meet with the vet in person. He not only screamed at me on the phone and then dumped me on hold forever, but refused to release my cat to my dad without full payment, even after we indicated we knew that was illegal. Rude, overpriced, unethical, and unprofessional. I've filed complaints with several consumer and health regulating boards. So disappointing. Oh, and on top of it all, the cat came home really, really sick, sneezing like crazy. Pretty much the worst veterinary experience imaginable. Cons: Does not contact for consent, holds pets as collateral for $ more
